Thirsk (9 miles) makes a lovely day trip with its independent shops and The World of James Herriot, a museum about the famous vet. While at Newby Hall (8 miles), Crab and Lobster restaurant a few miles up the road, Ripon 20 mins away, 8 mins from the A1. Northallerton 30 mins away. Lovely village of helperby 5 mins away with nice pub, The Oak Tree. Views of the White Horse (Thirsk) from the farm, you can take a deep dive into local history. Another great option is heading into the mystic depths of Mother Shipton’s Cave (12.5 miles). A little further on, the vibrant city of York (19 miles) promises an exciting day out visiting museums and shopping.
