This charming farmhouse enjoys an enviable position part of the magnificent Holkham Estate – ideal for a holiday with family or friends, filled with fresh air, big skies and plenty of countryside elegance. A 0.5-mile stroll brings you to Lady Anne’s Drive, which opens out onto the vast golden sands of Holkham Beach. The same distance in the other direction leads to the North Gates of Holkham Park, where you can hire a rowing boat on the lake, cycle through grand parkland, say hello to the resident deer or dip into fascinating local history at Holkham Hall. When you’re ready to explore further, Wells-next-the-Sea (1.5 miles) has colourful beach huts, fish-and-chips lunches and a pretty harbour to wander around. Chic Burnham Market (4 miles) and the Georgian town of Holt (13 miles) make lovely destinations for browsing boutiques, while Morston (8 miles) is your starting point for seal-watching trips along the coast.

On arrival, step inside to a welcoming hallway that gently guides you through the house. On your left is the lounge, all set for cosy evenings, with a wood burner and sink-in seating. The snug, also warmed by a wood burner, gives your group plenty of space to spread out. Continue past the garden door, and you’ll find a modern shower room along with the downstairs bedroom, a super-king-size with a zip-and-link bed for flexible sleeping arrangements. The heart of the home is the spacious kitchen/diner, perfect for leisurely cooking and sociable meals, with steps leading up to a practical utility area. Head upstairs to find the three remaining bedrooms, along with a family bathroom with both a shower and bath, ensuring everyone has space to unwind.

Outside, follow the gate and steps from the enclosed gravel courtyard to a peaceful lawn framed by fruit trees – an ideal spot for morning coffee or perhaps a sunset wind-down. There’s private parking for four cars on the driveway.

We enjoyed our stay. The farmhouse is in a very good position to visit all that Holkham has to offer Re and the surrounding area. It is a good base for a multi-generational family break
