The nearest beach, situated ten miles from the property, is the wide expansive stretch of sand at Holkham Bay, a beautiful beach which is backed by cool pine trees and makes up part of the Holkham Estate. Just around the coast from Holkham the pretty harbour town of Wells-next-the-Sea also offers a sandy beach, this time with a string of colourful beach huts running along the edge of the dunes. For a different kind of day out, the historic properties of Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall, and Sandringham all make for interesting and relaxing day trips, or alternatively why not take a guided boat trip out to see the seal colony at Blakeney Point?

Setting foot inside this cottage, guests will immediately realise just how much thought and attention the owners have put into creating a welcoming holiday retreat. The entrance hall not only provides space for guests to leave their coats and boots, but it is large enough to be used a delightful seating area, with an inviting sofa pulled in close to the warming wood burner, making it a lovely place to sit back and unwind with a good book and a glass of wine or cup of tea. The lounge is located just off the entrance hall and is another relaxing space with a range of comfortable seating, a flame-effect gas fire and a Smart TV/DVD. Crossing back across the hall, the kitchen/diner has an attractive country feel to it and offers a large dining table as well as an excellent range of equipment including a Range-style oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, and another TV, whilst the washing machine and tumble dryer are kept in the separate utility room. On the ground floor there is also a good sized shower room with WC and basin. The wood burner in the entrance hall is double-sided and opens into the kitchen, whilst in the warmer months of the year, guests may wish to open the French windows and extend the space in the room out into the garden. Wooden stairs from the entrance hall lead to the bedrooms on the first floor. The first of these is the gorgeous master bedroom suite, a king-size room which boasts a Juliet balcony and an en-suite shower room with shower and WC. The second bedroom is another king-size room, whilst the third is a restful double room. All of the bedrooms have their own Smart TV's, with the master bedroom having a seating area with two armchairs affording guests the space to relax in private. We picked the best week of the year to visit Toolmakers cottage! The weather was warm and sunny every day, so we were able to make the most of the patio area which was lovely. The cottage is beautiful and the village is lovely and quiet. There was no shop or pub nearby which meant a drive for provisions but this did not worry us too much!

Absolutely beautiful cottage, exactly as described. Perfectly situated and well equipped for us to meet up with friends travelling with their dogs from different areas of the country. We found the cottage spacious and comfortably furnished. The bedrooms were a good size with lovely, clean sheets and towels. We made full use of the kitchen and the lRead moreog burner and even had a barbecue as the weather was good. Beautiful, peaceful surroundings and the common is so handy for dog walking. We were within easy access by car to the coast and other local places of interest with Old Hunstanton beach being the favourite for the dog owners. We ate at the Dabbling Duck in Great Massingham as we had been to that gorgeous village once before and our final meal out was at The Crown in East Rudham, just a short drive away. You definitely need a car if you want to venture further afield or for food shops etc. but other than that, it was absolutely perfect and we would use this cottage again if we were to do a return visit to the area. Highly recommended. Hide

Beautiful cottage - really sociable usable space for a group of us. The garden is very well enclosed, so we didn't need to worry about the dogs while they were outside. Good location for getting out and about during the day and then brilliantly quiet for nights in. The off road parking was plenty big enough for our 3 cars.
