A delightful borderland retreat, this exquisite rural hideaway offers the best of bonnie Scotland. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom cottage nestles in gorgeous surroundings, 4 miles from Duns. Head into town to potter in the shops, admire the attractive market square and dine out or sip a wee dram in a friendly pub. Racing enthusiasts should also visit the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum. Arrange to spend an open day at magnificent Manderston House, 5 miles away, where you can wander the scenic gardens and see what is believed to be the only silver staircase in the world. Palladian Paxton House, 11 miles away, with its landscaped parkland grounds, also makes a magical afternoon out. Plan a trip to the Berwickshire coast, 17 miles away, with its opportunities for surfing, diving and walking. Head to St Abbs to take a boat trip where you might catch a glimpse of dolphins and seals.

Turn away from the picturesque country views to enter this lovely south-facing cottage. Cross the pretty front garden to step inside via the covered porch. Find yourselves in the hall, where you can hang your coats and slip off walking boots or wellies. Amble on through to the colourful lounge, where a picture window frames the Scottish scenery. Stoke up the wood burner for cosy evenings and settle down to play a family game or watch a film on the Smart TV. Stroll through to the kitchen/diner to take in the views from here too, as you whip up tasty meals for your party with the delicious local produce you have sourced nearby. Open the door to the garden on summer days as you sit down to dine at the wooden table. Venturing upstairs, there is a spacious super-king-size bedroom, with zip-and-link beds that can also be made up as singles by prior request. It has ample storage space, plus a cot for little ones. Also at this level is an enchanting twin bedroom, also with zip-and-link beds, enabling it to be made up as a king-size if discussed at booking. Completing the first floor is the family bathroom, where you have the choice of a hot bath or a refreshing shower.

Wander outside to the fully enclosed, mature rear garden from the kitchen, making your way down the wooden steps. There is also access to the garden from the side of the house. Meander outside at every opportunity to grill supper on the charcoal BBQ, dine under the clear Scottish night skies and savour the scenery. There is secure storage for outdoor gear. The enclosed front garden is a superb spot for morning coffee on sunny days. The cottage has private, off-road parking for two cars.

A very comfortable and well equiped cottage. Well off the beaten track and so extremely quiet and peaceful. Good secure garden enjoyed by our small dog. Have stayed in 38 UK cottages and this is up there with the best.

This is a very well thought out holiday let. with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog Cooper to play in. It is in a quiet location but easy access to Duns. Everything about the property is pristine and well cared for. It is probably the best holiday let we have ever rented.
