This idyllic hideaway for two enjoys a peaceful setting in the hamlet of Benhall Green, 1 mile south of the historic market town of Saxmundham. Surrounded by stunning Suffolk countryside, it's the perfect base for couples who love getting out and about in nature, with walks and cycle rides aplenty. Further afield, you’ll find the magnificent Suffolk coastline, with its dramatic coast paths and exceptional wildlife watching opportunities. The seaside town of Aldeburgh (6 miles) makes a lovely day out; stroll along the promenade or the pebbly shoreline, before grabbing a bag of fish and chips or picking up some delicious seafood from one of the fishermen’s huts. Alternative excursions include the Anglo-Saxon burial site at Sutton Hoo, the quirky holiday village at Thorpeness, and the creative hub of Snape Maltings (all within 12 miles). For wildlife enthusiasts, a visit to RSPB Minsmere (8 miles) is also a must for the holiday itinerary.

Step inside the wood-clad retreat into a warm and inviting lounge/kitchen/diner, featuring exposed beams, wooden furniture, and an array of homely accessories and soft furnishings. Tucked in one corner is a carefully configured kitchen area for preparing hearty breakfasts and romantic dinners for two, which you can share at the farmhouse-style dining table. On chilly evenings, fire up the wood burner and snuggle up together on the plump sofa to watch a movie on the Smart TV. Alternatively, in summer, open the patio doors to the garden for indoor/outdoor living. Completing the ground floor is a contemporary shower room. Upstairs, you’ll find an elegant super-king-size bedroom with sumptuous linens and calming decor for a good night’s sleep.

Outside, breathe in the fresh, countryside air in the enclosed garden, which features a bistro set for al fresco dining on balmy evenings. The property has private parking for one car.

The Farthings was an excellent place to stay. It is very cosy, quiet and characterful. I was lucky with the weather, so could sit in the little garden. It is perfectly placed for seeing the Suffolk coast and countryside. And the welcome goodies were appreciated . Highly recommend a stay here, and would love to return.
