Beautifully positioned in the heart of the Esk Valley and surrounded by stunning landscapes, this barn conversion is the ideal base for couples craving time in the great outdoors. Mill around the quaint village of Castleton and refuel at the award winning, Michelin recommended restaurant, The Eskdale. A little further afield is The Lion Inn (6 miles), serving food and drinks with impressive views, and boasting a variety of nearby footpaths to explore. Take on one of the many trails and hiking routes from Castleton, such as the challenging 7.5-mile Castleton to Lealholm route, part of the Esk Valley Walk that can be accessed directly from the cottage. Golden sands and stunning Gothic architecture await on Whitby's (15 miles) jaw-dropping coastline. Pick up produce, admire colourful beach huts, or mosey around the eclectic mix of shops. If you fancy a different beach spot, then Robin Hood's Bay, Sandsend and Staithes are all within 19 miles. Keen cyclists can take to the North York Moors Cycleway, which can be joined in Lealholm (4.5 miles), and be rewarded with blankets of heather, hidden valleys, and several traditional pubs.

Slip off shoes at the hallway bench, with a convenient WC located just nearby. Head through to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, where a pared-back modern design provides a lovely area to get cosy. Catch up with loved ones at the central island and bar stools while your head chef of your group makes a start in the well-equipped kitchen. Meals can be enjoyed around the four-seater circular table, where you can also make plans for the coming days. An L-shaped, comfortable sofa, wood burner and a Smart TV offer a lovely space that’s the perfect antidote after busy days out. Upstairs, two delightful king-size bedrooms await with apex roofing and roof windows. Finishing this floor is the luxury bathroom, featuring a bath with shower over, and WC.

Enjoy gentle slopes and dazzlingly clear views from your private hot tub on the front patio. When the sun is shining, tuck into al fresco breakfasts at the table and chairs that have been hand carved from the farm's own ash tree. When the sun goes down, light the chimenea for cosy evenings under the stars. There is a second patio to the rear boasting direct access onto a bridleway. The property offers parking for two cars.

Weve absolutely loved our stay! The accommodation was luxury through and through, spotlessly clean and so tastefully decorated. Everything we needed was there to make it feel like a home. The beds were so comfortable too! And the icing on the cake was the spectacular picture postcard view whilst relaxing in the hot tub! Theres a parking spot aboutRead more 20 metres from the front door with a short climb and some steps to get to the property. At the back theres a small courtyard where you can store bikes and a gate with access to a bridal path with a nice walk to the woods. We took our bikes and did (half) the undulating Whitby to Scunthorpe cycle which has spectacular sea views along the way, and the family friendly part of the swale trail which was apparently flat but quite challenging in parts. Great pub at the end though. Id suggest if youre a beginner or less fit (like me) you hire an electric mountain bike for these. I had my hybrid electric bike and there is an incredibly rocky part of the early part of the swale trail which was like cycling on a riverbed of rocks. Ive recommended this property to friends already and hopefully will be back Hide

Fabulous holiday property which has been renovated to a high standard. Had all the equipment you could need, tasteful furnishings and comfortable beds. The owners could not have been more helpful and the bonus of a fabulous hot tub with views of the North Yorkshire moors made it perfect! Highly recommended and cant wait to go back!

This property is amazing, set in a fantastic location in the heart of the North Yorkshire moors, and It has only recently been converted to an extremely high standard. The owners live on site and were there to greet us on arrival, which gave our stay that personal touch. The property is not overlooked so you have a high level of privacy, and alRead moreso has an inclosed back yard as well as the front outdoor area where the hot tub is located. The Eskdale pub is at the bottom of the drive, as well as the train station. We are very much looking forward to returning next year Hide
