In the heart of the Northumberland countryside holiday home in the peaceful village of Lowick makes a wonderful base for a family getaway with friendly pubs and a village shop a stroll away. Just 5 miles from Lowick is the Ford and Etal Estate, where you’ll find a working steam railway, historic buildings, a miniature museum and plenty of places to eat and explore. Head to the beach at Goswick (7 miles), a quiet stretch of sand for sandcastle building, kite flying and coastal walks. Head to the famous Holy Island of Lindisfarne (8.5 miles) or visit the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (10 miles) for Elizabethan walls, riverside walks and sandy beaches. Bamburgh (12 miles) is home to one of the most iconic castles in the country, while Alnwick (23 miles) promises a magical day out with its castle (featured in the Harry Potter films) and stunning gardens.

Set all on one level, step through the front door into a hallway with space for shoes and coats, before heading into the inviting lounge. There’s also a vinyl record player with a small selection of music to play and a small dining table for relaxed meals or morning coffee. The second bedroom is also accessed from this hallway and includes twin beds along with books and games to keep younger guests entertained. Completing the interior is a contemporary family shower room.

Outside, the rear garden is fully enclosed for both children and pets to play safely. 1 dog is welcome. Overall we had a fair stay but we were inconvenienced by a leaking radiator in the main bedroom which appeared to have been leaking for some time as the curtain was absolutely wringing wet. Your excellent plumber arrived at about 5 or 5.30 and was able to renew the lock shield. We were able to dry the curtains over the radiator. We accept that thesRead moree things happen but it would appear that there has been a lack of maintenance. Providing that there is some attention to this then yes we would recommend this cottage to a friend ( see next question, and bear in mind we are in our mid seventies!) Hide

Really lovely, clean and well equipped cottage. The dcor was really nice, couches comfortable to sit on in the evenings. The double bed was comfortable, lovely soft towels. The kitchen was well equipped with plates, mugs, wine glasses etc. We enjoyed the complimentary goods. As there was a table/chairs in the Living Room it would have been good toRead more have a couple of comfortable chairs in the conservatory for when it is too cold to sit outside. The garden was great and fully enclosed for our (escapee dog). Couple gaps in one of the fences that a small dog could maybe get through and a raised flower bed that made jumping over a small piece of fence possible - we always carry some portable fencing which we laid against this part of the fence making it completely secure. Great peaceful location to visit lots of the surrounding area. Loved the village shop - lots of hand-baked goods, gifts, groceries etc. We had a delicious meal in the Black Bull Inn. Nearby Fenwick has a great coffee shop that does delicious hot chocolate. Overall we really enjoyed staying here, would definitely recommend it and would not hesitate to book again if holidaying in the area. Hide
