A warm and contemporary-styled cottage that makes a delightful retreat for couples or small families – and a treat for golf fans. This two-bed home, set in the friendly village of Northam, is the birthplace former home of British Open Golf Champion J.H. Taylor, honoured by a commemorative plaque on the front facade. You’ll find pubs and shops within walking distance and plenty to explore nearby. The renowned Royal North Devon Golf Course (1 mile) will appeal if you’re here for the golf, while the expansive sandy beach in Westward Ho! and the quaint fishing village of Appledore are both only around 2 miles away. Northam Country Park is fabulous close by for peaceful walks, and Instow’s sandy shores are just a short drive (4 miles) – or you can take the bikes and the local ferry across (2.5 miles) for a leisurely adventure.

Step through the front door into a welcoming hallway that leads to rustic interior that’s been a beautifully restored to suit the present day. On the left, the inviting lounge-diner features plush sofas, a large Smart TV and a fireplace with a toasty wood burner to keep you warm in the evenings. A dining table for four sits beside elegant French doors that you can open up on mild days. On the right, the modern shaker-style kitchen comes fully equipped with contemporary appliances, ready for easy meal prep. Cottage-style stairs lead up to two restful bedrooms: a king-size and a day bed with a pull-out single, which can be arranged as twin beds or a super-king on request, offering flexible sleeping options for families or friends. The bathroom is complete with elegant tiling, creating a serene space for your daily wash.

Outside is a lovely, enclosed courtyard with shrubs, a bistro set and a bench – ideal for enjoying morning coffee in the fresh air.

The cottage was incredibly comfortable, the location was very good and we would definitely recommend staying here! We went with our two dogs who enjoyed their holiday as much as we did!
