Relax in style at this exquisite holiday home sitting in the vibrant coastal village of Polzeath. Sleeping ten people across five bedrooms, it’s the ultimate beachy base for larger families or groups of friends in search of a sleek and stylish cottage to call home on the Cornish coast. Grab your surfboard and take a leisurely stroll down to Polzeath Beach (0.5 miles) to catch some waves, and then recharge your batteries over a delicious brunch at one of the village’s beachfront cafes. Alternatively, head off on a hike to Pentire Point (2 miles). This dramatic headland, which is managed by the National Trust, offers sweeping views over the Camel Estuary and Padstow Bay. Continue on your hike to the dramatic rock formations at The Rumps (a further 0.5 miles). Archaeologists have found evidence of people living in a prehistoric cliff castle there in the 2nd century BC.

Park your car in the private parking area (there’s room for four cars) and step inside this generous whitewashed retreat. With a clever upside-down layout, this home makes the most of the views from its hilltop position. Head upstairs, where you’ll find an exquisitely styled living space where the tasteful coastal-themed decor is complemented by a roaring wood burner and the beautiful garden views framed through the large window. Whip up your favourite dishes in the chic kitchen/dining area, and then get the whole gang together to enjoy a sociable meal at the impressive farmhouse-style dining table. After dinner, head to the snug to play Nintendo Wii or watch a movie together. Upstairs, you’ll find a gorgeous super-king-size bedroom with its own Juliet balcony and an en-suite shower room. Downstairs, you’ll find a handy twin, a smart double and a bunk room that the kids will adore. A final double bedroom has an en-suite shower room with a rainfall shower, as well as doors that open onto a sweet patio overlooking the lawn. Designed with the surf in mind, on this floor, you’ll also find a vast wet room complete with two rainfall showers, as well as a family bathroom with a bath and shower.

Throw open the glass doors from the kitchen area to the balcony and enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine. Later in the evening, head out onto the pretty patio area, fire up the charcoal BBQ and share an al fresco feast with your loved ones at the wooden picnic bench. Afterwards, toast marshmallows at the fire pit while the stars come out.

Tradewinds was spacious with a perfect layout for our family. We loved the first floor decking/balcony opening out from the kitchen.
