Property code: OC-L50163

A remarkable, split-level retreat in a commanding position in Cornwall’s highly desirable Rock, this unique hideaway is ideal for a larger group on a coastal break. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom holiday home looks out over the glorious Camel Estuary and benefits from a private footpath to Porthilly Beach, just 50 metres away. Paddle here, pick up shells and have fun with a bucket and spade. Beautiful Rock Beach, with its turquoise waters, is less than 1 mile away and ideal for paddleboarding and windsurfing, while Polzeath, great for swimming and surfing, is less than 3 miles away. Make the most of Rock’s shops and eateries or head across the river on the ferry to Padstow, with its famous seafood outlets. Venture into Wadebridge to wander round its galleries, boutiques and outlets selling Cornish produce. Pick up the famous Camel Trail here and follow it on foot or by bicycle.

Pull yourselves away from the astounding views to wander inside this special Cornish cottage. Take a small step up to the paved area and then another to the front door to find yourselves in the hall, with all your appealing bedrooms and bathrooms to one side and your lovely living spaces to the other. Head into the dining room, where bi-folding doors can be pulled right back onto the expansive sundeck to bring the spell-binding riverside scenery right into the area where you will sit down to your celebratory meals. The chic kitchen, which encompasses everything you will require to help you whip up these creations with your own ingredients, adjoins the dining room and leads into a handy utility room. The large lounge, where you can unwind in front of the TV, with the open fire throwing a gorgeous glow across the room on autumn and winter days, is beyond the dining room and flows into the sun room, with its picture windows and vaulted ceiling. Unwind in here with a cocktail as the sun sets or open more doors right back onto the sundeck. As night falls, amble off to the bedroom section of the house. Here you will find a sumptuous super-king-size and a cosy double. There are also two twin rooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room and zip-and-link beds that can be made into a king-size on request. Guests in the other bedrooms share a family shower room and a family bathroom. The small double, twin with zip-and-link beds and family bathroom are accessed via five steps.

Spill into the sunshine of the fabulous deck, which has glass balustrades, taking a small step out from either the dining room or the sunroom. Sip cold drinks as you survey your surroundings from the comfort of the outdoor furniture. Grill freshly landed Cornish mackerel on the BBQ, then dine outside in the salty sea air. There are steps leading down along the side of the house to the garden, where children can play on the lawn. There is private parking here for five cars.

Excellent location, we didn't need to drive during our stay and could easily walk to shops, restaurants, pub and ferry. We loved the internal spec and the beautiful view of Porthilly Beach.
