Set midway between the Lake District National Park and the Solway Coast National Landscape, this luxurious home is an ideal choice for families and groups of friends planning Cumbrian adventures together. The host market town of Wigton (2 miles) offers a generous choice of local shops, cafes and traditional pubs and restaurants. Just outside of town, Watchtree Nature Reserve (6.5 miles) is a haven for bird spotters and keen walkers, as are the South Solway Mosses Reserve and Cumberland Bird of Prey Centre (both within 8.5 miles). Keen historians will find plenty of local heritage to uncover at Carlisle Castle (10 miles), while days on the beach are made easy thanks to nearby seaside destinations including Silloth, Beckfoot, Mawbray, and Skinburness (all within 14.5 miles). For days of outdoor adventure, the Lake District begins just 6.5 miles away with its endless walking trails, water sports opportunities and charming towns.

Before stepping into this welcoming home, take a moment to appreciate its surrounding scenery of peaceful Cumberland countryside. Kick off muddy walking boots in the entrance porch, then walk through to the open-plan living space which combines a spacious kitchen with a dining area and L-shaped lounge. Head straight to the kitchen to cook up a storm using your new local flavours; find everything needed in this country-style space for a self-catered stay, then enjoy the chef’s work over at the long dining table. After memorable mealtimes, unwind in the lounge where a roaring wood burner and Smart TV set the scene for cosy movie nights together. Completing the ground floor is a handy utility room plus a separate shower room. More relaxation awaits upstairs, where a cosy snug boasts exposed stone walls, comfy furnishings, a sofa bed, a Smart TV and games console – ideal for younger guests. At the end of each busy day away, retire to a choice of three restful bedrooms, all with chic touches and Smart TVs for lazy mornings in bed. Choose from a master king-size room, a double bedroom, and a welcoming twin room. A family shower room serves the bedrooms and completes the interior.

Outside, make full use of the garden where far-reaching countryside views provide a peaceful start to each day. Outdoor dining furniture sets the scene for evening tipples and al fresco meals using the BBQ, while the hot tub takes centre stage in its own private room for nights spent bubbling under twinkling skies. Guests will also benefit from private parking for four cars.

Had the most wonderful stay at Forresterfold. Property was perfect - everything was spacious and well equipped from the hot tub to the games den to the kitchen to the neighbouring sheep and bunnies. Lovely quiet location, but 5 mins to Wigton, and just 20 mins to Bassenthwaite, central Carlisle and the Solway coast. Visited as a multi-generational Read morefamily group (5-71) and would 100% recommend either for similar family group or a friends/couple getaway. Hide

The place was PERFECT!!! We had a wonderful stay with friends to celebrate our daughters 18th birthdays a month early. It was clean, comfortable and stylish, the indoor hot tub was fabulous - especially with storm Dave visiting. We had an amazing meal at Ye Olde Greyhound - highly recommend, but you must book.

Liz has a really lovely place here. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone. It was spotless and had everything you could need. Beautiful high spec cottage. Set in a quiet rural setting. We had a wonderful time here relaxing in the hot tub, playing board games and exploring local areas. We brought our own board games but there are some in the snug in the property together with an Xbox and some games for people to enjoy. Would absolutely recommend to others.

We had a great time at Lizs holiday home. Its beautiful and really well equipped, with everything you need. We also loved the little touches, like the luxury shower gels, shampoo and conditioner, and tea, coffee and milk on arrival. We had a small issue which was sorted out very quickly. Wed definitely stay again.
