Return from discovering the most beautiful corners of the Peak District National Park to let yourselves into your charming holiday haven. The cottage, set on a farm, has been arranged to provide reverse-level accommodation, thereby ensuring the countryside views are maximised and you can continue to enjoy your surroundings from inside the retreat. The farm’s eco credentials include a wood-pellet biomass boiler with a 90 kW capacity and a 9.6 kW array of roof-mounted solar panels, providing renewable heating and electricity. Inside the cottage, both the double bedroom and the single are downstairs, together with the family shower room, where you can refresh yourselves before or after each exciting day out. The living space, an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, encompasses the entire first floor. The high ceiling here creates an airy ambience, while skylight windows ensure the space is filled with natural light. Take it easy in here as you cook, dine and watch TV together. Play family games and savour the views as the sun goes down over the hills. Choose a guidebook or two and flick through its pages together, deciding which footpath to follow or which historic site to visit.
Take a glass of wine down to the bench in the shared courtyard and gaze up at the stars on clear nights. There is bike storage available inside another barn, and you have use of a shared laundry. The owners are also developing a land regeneration project to enhance local biodiversity, which you can explore whilst you are here. The cottage comes with private, off-road parking for two cars.
