Nearby public footpaths lead to an old church, Fletchertown (with a children’s play area), and the village of Blennerhasset with its local pub. Ideally positioned for exploring both the northern Lake District National Park and the quieter Solway Coast, it's a perfect base for outdoor adventures. Just 8 miles away is Bassenthwaite, the only official lake in the Lake District, with scenic views, a charming village, and the cosy Sun Inn pub. Another 7 miles brings you to Keswick and Derwent Water, with walking and biking trails like the 3.2-mile Keswick to Threlkeld railway path along the River Greta, or hikes up Skiddaw and Latrigg-all within 15 miles. Other attractions include Cockermouth (10 miles), Caldbeck (10.5 miles), and the lakes of Buttermere, Crummock, and Loweswater (within 20 miles). The Solway Coast National Landscape is 15 miles west, while Gretna Green, the famous Scottish village, is just 25 miles away for a longer day trip.

The cottage has been decorated in neutral tones and finished to a sophisticated standard; this newly renovated property offers an ideal setting for a restful retreat. Leave boots and coats in the entrance hall before making your way indoors. The dining room provides a spacious area to come together at mealtimes, with handsome stone-flagged flooring and a wood burner. Steps lead down into the lower-level sunken lounge, a calm, peaceful space featuring ample comfortable seating, a Smart TV, wood burner and a pool table for the young at heart. Also on this level, a well-equipped kitchen with ample appliances offers space for cooking, with a window seat perfect for keeping the cook company while gazing out at the surrounding fields. The ground floor is also home to a bathroom with a shower and a utility room, where you’ll find a washing machine and dryer. Discover the first of three bedrooms on this floor: a triple bedroom with a double and single bed and a beautiful bay window to sit in. Moving up to the first floor, you’ll find two further bedrooms, also with a family room layout. One offers a king-size bed, an additional single and an en-suite shower room, while the second features a double with a single bed. Rounding off this floor, a family bathroom with a walk-in shower and a grand roll-top bath provides a relaxing space to soak.

When the sun shines, make the most of your natural surroundings and spend time outdoors. The grassy garden features a delightful lawn and patio area, fully enclosed so children and dogs can play safely with baby calves often visiting the fence from the surrounding fields. Enjoy the outdoor seating, a firepit to stay warm and gaze at the open skies and an external games room, home to table football and a dart board. Bikes can also be secured in this area. Finally, find private parking for four cars on the large driveway

Wonderful stay beautifully renovated cottage in a perfect location We stayed between Christmas and New Year as a family of five, along with our two dogs, and had a fantastic experience. The cottage has been newly renovated and is beautifully presented, offering a spacious and high-quality finish throughout. The living room, which houses the Read morepool table, was both comfortable and welcoming and quickly became the heart of the house. It was a great space for relaxing together after days out. The kitchen was very well equipped and all of the bedrooms were comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. Overall, the property is finished to a very high standard. The location is ideal for exploring the Lake District, with plenty of great walks and attractions nearby. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend this cottage and would happily return. Hide
