Property code: OC-E1678

In a unique location right by the Water of Leith, this ground-floor apartment retains many of the historic building’s original features, including wooden beams and stone pillars, and makes a fabulously atmospheric solo escape or couple’s getaway. Leith boasts a vibrant community, with a wealth of pubs, parks and community events, and enjoys a thriving, 'Continental' atmosphere. It has become the top foodie destination in Edinburgh and is among the best in the UK, with an enormous choice of restaurants within a small area - including a Michelin-star restaurant opposite. The Ocean Terminal centre, 0.5 miles, boasts excellent shopping as well as a cinema complex, bars and restaurants, some overlooking the Royal Yacht Britannia. If you can’t resist a day trip to the capital, regular buses depart day and night just 200 metres from your front door for the centre of Edinburgh. Alternatively, the 12-mile Water of Leith Walkway runs from your doorstep to the beautiful rural village of Balerno. A designated 'Urban Wildlife Site', the walkway is home to over 80 species of birds and patches of ancient woodland, and passes many points of interest, including the Scottish Gallery of Modern Art, the Royal Botanic Gardens and Dean Village. There are ten local golf courses within 3 miles, and the beautiful East Coast offers some of the best areas in Scotland for golf, with a wide array of stunning and historic courses.

Admire the impressive six-storey, stone façade as you approach the building and access its secure, shared entrance. Once inside your ground-floor apartment, you’ll find a bright, open-plan living space with windows on two sides. If you’re staying in for the evening, the kitchen offers everything you’ll need to whip up a delicious meal, and then you can snuggle up on the sofa and either enjoy the lovely views over the water or, when it’s dark, close the blinds and listen to music or stream a favourite show on the Smart TV. The sleek double bedroom has a wonderful feature – patio doors that you can throw open to allow direct access to the wharf. Floor-length curtains ensure essential privacy at bedtime, of course. Completing the interior is a pretty bathroom.

In terms of outside space, the apartment has a shared grass area for residents to enjoy, while its waterside location offers the chance for an instant breath of fresh air.

We had a wonderful stay in Edinburgh and enjoyed walking miles, exploring waterways as well as the city centre. The location of the apartment is brilliant- the nearby trams made it very easy to get about when our feet were tired from walking. The apartment has pretty much everything you need and was a great base. We found it a little too hot at timRead morees, but we were visiting in very warm conditions. Hide

We had a very comfortable stay, the flat had everything we needed. I felt that it was good value for money. We liked the location, as it was lively without being overcrowded like the more central parts of Edinburgh. We were very tempted to just stay in the flat all day and watch the passing parade of characters passing along the riverside. Also welRead morel served by public transport - easy to catch the tram to any places we were visiting. The parking was a bonus and we did make use of it for one night. Hide

Great location in Edinburgh Leith. Plenty of restaurants to eat at and shops. Apartment upon arrival clean and homely. Everything needed for the stay if cooking and washing. Only problem was the mattress being really uncomfortable for us.

An enjoyable stay and we would book again as it is only a very short, steep walk to the water. Generally well equipped. There is wifi, but only a basic TV - no iplayer, DVD player etc. A few traditional children's games, but no books etc, so do take your own entertainment for the evenings.
