This wonderful holiday escape is perfect for making the most of the Surrey countryside. Hidden away in a quiet woodland clearing up on Leith Hill, with awe-inspiring views reaching a staggering 20 miles across the Surrey Hills National Landscape to West Sussex. From the door, public footpaths and bridleways lead to open fields, ancient woods, vineyards, and sweeping countryside. Holmbury Hill (2 miles) has fantastic vistas, and there are several thousand acres of open access land locally where you have the right of way (check maps). Visit National Trust sites like Leith Hill Tower (1.5 miles), with trails through heathland and farmland, Abinger Roughs and Netley Park (4 miles), with ancient trees and wildflowers, and the dramatic Denbies Hillside (7 miles). A picturesque golf course is just 8 miles away, and local towns, including Dorking (7 miles) with traditional market, independent shops and eateries, and Guildford with its cobbled streets and striking architecture, plus the River Wey.
Step inside this beautiful retreat, fully timber-framed with oak beams, underfloor heating and stunning décor. Be wowed by a marvellous real wood kitchen to the left and a farmhouse-style dining area to the right. You’ll have a polished stone breakfast bar for perching with a cuppa (or glass of wine) while your designated chefs slave away at the range cooker. The open-plan living space is framed by purpose-cut solid oak beams for a standout look. Deep, sink-into sofas and stone-topped coffee tables create a cosy and stylish atmosphere, and there’s a handy downstairs WC. When it’s time to turn in, head up the elegant wooden staircase to two sumptuous king-size bedrooms with impressive, vaulted ceilings propped up by oak beams. For your daily washing, there’s a stylish family bathroom featuring a walk-in shower. The statement bath has rough-hewn crystallised stone panelling for an extra-luxurious soak.
Back downstairs, a rear door leads out to a patio and lawn, a glorious spot to soak up uninterrupted woodland and farmland views stretching to the South Downs while children play. For an indulgent extra, pop down to the owner's vineyard café for freshly ground coffee, or a glass of wine that is grown and bottled virtually on your doorstep. There is private parking available for 2 cars.
