A beautiful location however, a combination of mis-management and lack of maintenance made this a week of hard work rather than a holiday. The first to arrive on the Friday evening were my 80-year-old parents-in-law, who were alarmed and dismayed with what they found. They obtained the single key in the key-safe, but it did not fit the sliding dooRead morer into the porch. Even if it did, they could not get to the next door because the porch was stacked high with towels and bedding. Unknown to us, the cleaners were not expecting the bungalow to be let out for the week of our booking and had planned to use the week for a deep-clean. They had already cleaned the bedrooms, showers, bathrooms, and toilet, but all of the beds were unmade, so we had no linen or towels. The lounge, dining room & kitchen were in an appalling state and unusable, with a large fridge left unplugged. Neither the owner nor the housekeeper could not be contacted, as the numbers given did not connect to anyone. Fortunately, the Holiday Cottages office was still responding; they contacted the cleaners and 3 of them traveled from Bodmin. These ladies first helped to find, then identify all the necessary keys before working for approximately 3 hours late into the night, making a gallant effort to get the place straight and usable, with the correct keys to be able to secure the property. The previous occupants had left dirty crockery, cutlery and generally a bit of a mess, so we still needed to do a lot cleaning ourselves the next day. In general, there were a number of maintenance issues, and these have been raised separately. It was all very stressful and difficult to make the property work as a relaxing holiday home which was particularly disappointing, as it had been booked for a celebration. We definitely wont be returning or recommending it to others! To be fair, there were several good points: Bedrooms and bathrooms clean. Plenty of storage. Trolley for taking stuff to the beach, and some beach toys for children. Large table for games and dining. Modern and clean kitchen units. Two good fridges, and freezer in garage. Cleaners swept out garage & wiped fridges/freezer, bagged up all the dirty washing and explained about the keys. Review for the cleaning ladies: the stars who deserve all the credit for making this holiday actually happen. Our heartfelt thanks to these 3 ladies who came out late on a Friday night and cleaned for 3 hours until midnight! Review for Holiday Cottages management company: thank you for maintaining a helpline on a Friday evening sadly it proved essential! Please investigate why the cleaning ladies were unaware of our booking and brief them on how you will avoid that problem in the future. By the way for all customers bringing dogs, please stop advertising this property as having an enclosed garden; it is not enclosed as there are gaps on both sides of the house where the gardeners help themselves to the back garden (also worth mentioning to dog-owners). Review for the owner: please consider the state of the property and how you allow it to be advertised. Please work in conjunction with the management company to get on top of the maintenance. Hide

The cottage is lovely, we had a a fantastic time and it was better than we had expected! Close to lovely coastal walks, ideal for the dogs, great location for Polzeath beach. The house is so well equipped and is really geared up for families, we were pleasantly surprised with how much stuff was there for young ones. I would highly recommend this coRead morettage. Hide
