Robin Hood’s Bay is a picturesque fishing village on the North Yorkshire coast, famous for its winding cobbled streets, traditional cottages and breathtaking sea views. Within the village, you’ll find welcoming pubs, cosy cafes, independent shops and galleries, perfect for browsing after a day exploring. For a change of pace, the bustling seaside town of Whitby (6 miles) offers the dramatic abbey ruins, a lively harbour and excellent seafood. To the north, Staithes (12 miles) charms with its historic harbour and artistic heritage, while Scarborough (16 miles) provides classic seaside fun with sandy beaches, theatres and family attractions. Robin Hood’s Bay is also an ideal base for walkers, with direct access to the Cleveland Way and miles of scenic trails across the North York Moors National Park, where rolling heather, woodlands, and rugged coastline combine to create unforgettable walks.

This stylish cottage welcomes you into a snug porch (ideal for coats and boots), before entering the warm lounge and dining area. This character-filled cottage, with its coastal elegance, boasts exposed beams, an original stone fireplace with a cosy wood burner, two comfortable sofas, leather armchairs, and a Smart TV, perfect for relaxing evenings. A generous oak dining table invites everyone to gather round for shared meals, conveniently linked to the fully equipped kitchen via a serving hatch. The kitchen, which is up a few steps, maintains the cottage’s calming coastal palette, with terracotta-tone flooring and overhead beams. It’s complete with modern conveniences, plus a rear door leading up to a handy outbuilding. Upstairs, two double bedrooms charm with white linen, decorative fireplaces, and built-in alcove cupboards. Between them lies a well-appointed shower room with a rain-head walk-in cubicle. A staircase leads to the loft-style third bedroom, a peaceful retreat for older children: twin beds, beamed ceilings, beanbags, and another Smart TV create a perfect chill-out zone.

Outside, a front bench basks in morning sun, ideal for coffee or evening wine. Tucked away to the rear via steep steps up from the back door, an outbuilding (a ‘shinney’) is a practical space for bikes, wetsuits, and beach gear. You’ll find a washing machine/tumble dryer.

Wonderful cottage, with an idyllic location for RH Bay. We had a wonderful, cosy stay, on a cold wintery weekend enjoying the log fire and Sea Views from the porch.
