Set in the heart of the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape, this beautifully converted former fire station offers a wonderful stay for couples and small families with a dog in tow. The host village of Orford is brimming with history and natural beauty; guests can uncover its 12th-century castle to enjoy panoramic views or wander the banks of the River Ore, where ferries cross to Orford Ness and RSPB Havergate Island. Foodies will love the village’s dining scene, with a popular smokehouse, artisan bakeries and welcoming pubs all awaiting. Further afield, enjoy scenic walks through the national landscape where more nature reserves and winding rivers beckon adventure. Charming destinations nearby include Aldeburgh, Shingle Street, Bawdsey and the beach town of Felixstowe (all within 25 miles).

Before stepping into this unique fire station conversion, take a moment to appreciate its exterior design, where the property’s past blends with striking floor-to-ceiling windows and chic wood cladding. Head inside to uncover a light-filled and stylish open-plan living space that combines the lounge, kitchen and diner. Here, warm tones, soft furnishings and a relaxed atmosphere offer a welcoming base for your Suffolk adventures. Unwind in the lounge area; sink into the soft seating, flick on the Smart TV and relax in the warm and inviting living space. When stomachs rumble, find all you need in the contemporary kitchen to cook up holiday feasts, which can be enjoyed at the spacious dining table nearby or alfresco style out on the patio. Completing the ground floor is a well-appointed shower room. At the end of each busy day away, head upstairs and choose from two splendid bedrooms: a king-size room with glorious floor-to-ceiling windows, and a clever family room with a single bunk-style bed set above a double. A family bathroom completes the interior.

Accessed through the living space’s bi-fold doors, a walled patio area offers a lovely spot to soak in the sun in the soft seating or start each day with a peaceful morning brew. The house was very spacious, comfortable and a beautiful designed accommodation. Very well equipped too. It is also very quiet and within 10 minutes walk to the pier, 5 to the bakery!
