In a peaceful, rural location at the top of a hill, this traditional stone property boasts extensive views and a large, enclosed garden that’s perfect for relaxing. Inside, thoughtful renovations have introduced plenty of modern luxuries that are sure to make your stay feel extra special. This is the ideal retreat for families or groups of friends looking to spend time in this tranquil part of the North West, within reach of the Peak District and Bronte Country. Walk from your doorstep into the Healey Dell Nature Reserve, where you’ll find waterfalls, a fairy grotto and Victorian-themed tea rooms. Head into Rochdale (3.5 miles) for shops and places to eat, or Manchester (16.5 miles) for galleries, museums, and all kinds of retail and foodie experiences. The start of the East Lancashire Railway is at Heywood (5 miles): hop on a heritage train to Bury for its transport museum and market.

Drive up to the house along its steep, cobbled bridleway – taking the bumps slowly and enjoying the views as you go. Walk through the front garden, and let yourself in to the spacious entrance hall, where you can hang coats and kick off walking boots. Stroll through to the stunning lounge, where original, rugged beams contrast with the stylish, modern decor. This generously sized room, which has patio doors to the garden, has an array of comfortable seating and a Smart TV, offering instant entertainment for rainy days or evenings in. In the farmhouse-style kitchen, an AGA is the centrepiece, complemented by an air fryer and a slow cooker for maximum versatility. A grand island worktop also seats three people at the breakfast bar, and there’s a separate dining room where everyone can gather for celebratory meals. A utility room with a washing machine and a handy separate WC complete the ground floor of the handsome property. Head upstairs to find the four bedrooms, all carefully styled with coordinating linens, two with en-suite shower rooms and Smart TVs. Completing the property is a stunning family bathroom, which boasts not only a spa bath but also a built-in Freeview TV, so you needn’t miss your favourite show while enjoying a long soak.

When you feel like heading outside for some fresh air and sunshine, there’s an enclosed garden at the front of the property with a bistro set – a great spot for sipping a coffee and relishing the lovely views. At the back, the larger garden is also safely enclosed, so little ones and pets can play safely. At the ground-floor level, this garden has a patio area with a gas BBQ and dining furniture, and you can take steps up to another lawned area to admire the wonderful views. There is also a fire pit outside which is ideal for keeping off the chill on a cool evening or toasting marshmallows as you watch the stars start to twinkle in the clear skies above. Another benefit of this superb property is driveway parking for five cars.

WOW. Amazing property,, the personal touches on arrival were just above and behind. The communication with the proprietors was a pleasure , we struggled to even come up with a query. There is nothing that these wonderful proprietors and their stunning home doesn't cater for . When they told us to not over pack and on arrival just go tRead morehrough the front door relax and enjoy. There isn't a thing that has been overlooked or not catered for. Can't not recommend enough . Amazing Hide

This is a large comfortable house, four huge bedrooms, very well appointed, with, literally, everything you could possibly need, in fact we had a running joke, that the only thing we couldnt find was a chainsaw!

We loved our stay at The Byre. The home was great, well equipped and the beds were very comfy. The owners were very informative and had gone the extra mile with thoughtful extras. Highly recommend.

This is very much a home from home. Its tucked away in the countryside very near to one Lancashires most beautiful nature spots. The house itself has so much character that I couldnt even begin to describe it here fully: its oldie worldie charm with all modern conveniences. Where do I start? The children loved the huge interior and they could play Read morehide and seek for hours! The kitchen is warm and welcoming with a beautiful AGA range that ticks away making this the cosiest spot in the house. Its equipped with everything you could possibly want to cater for your stay and since staying weve bought a Ninja worktop combi cooker ourselves! The owners also thoughtfully left a great range of provisions to get our holiday off to a great start. The lounge/living room is huge and we had a great movie night in there. All the four bedrooms are beautifully presented and comfortable, two with their own en suite, one of which is fitted out with a spacious wet room type shower. The shared bathroom has a huge jacuzzi bath with a tap set up that is bound to amaze children and adults alike I wont spoil the surprise. Theres even a TV built into the wall at the end of the bath. All the linen and towels were excellent quality and really clean. The owner was always contactable and quick to resolve any questions or problems, plus Michelle was full of helpful advice about things to do in the area. This is a real gem with rural views that will take your beeath away! One hint: as the SatNav will try to direct you to the house via a very bumpy road its best to use Whitworth Road as a waypoint to get to Station Road. We also found that whilst Google Maps will always try to take you the wrong way but iMaps (Apples own navigation app) will nearly always take you the correct way. Hide
