The North York Moors National Park begins just 2 miles away and Robin Hood’s Bay is a scenic spot along the coast (5 miles). TV buffs will love Goathland, 9 miles inland, well known as the setting of the period drama Heartbeat.

Entering via the rear entrance, down the 18 steps (shared with the cottage next door) which leads down to the garden. Stepping inside from the garden brings you to the first floor, with stairs leading both up and down through the house. On the ground floor, the open-plan living area feels warm and welcoming with its plush corner sofa, central dining table and modern kitchen for all your meal prep. A multi-fuel stove adds a homely glow, while a door from here takes you down stone steps directly to the harbour. The first floor is home to a double bedroom alongside a stylish shower room. Head up another level to find a second double bedroom with harbour views and a family bathroom with shower over bath. The third floor reveals a charming twin tucked beneath exposed beams, complete with an extra pull-out bed and futon to make it a versatile space for four. This room has gorgeous rooftop views across the harbour and sea to wake up to – you may even see the steam trains passing the moors a couple of miles away.

After 2 nights the lights stopped working on the top floor in the bathroom. We was very grateful that someone came out to inspect on NYE but couldnt be sorted. Was pretty disappointed that all the builders mess was left and not cleaned up. We was told to use natural sunlight in the bathroom and torches were available but when you like a shower onRead more an evening it can be rather difficult. Hide
