Set within expansive grounds in the quiet Tipperary village of Kilbarron, this spacious house is a peaceful getaway for families, couples or small groups of friends. Stroll to the local bar or head into Borrisokane, just 4.5 miles away, for shops and places to eat, including a friendly pub/restaurant with live music. Terryglass is under 6 miles from the property, and from Portumna (12.5 miles), you can stroll the trails of the 1,000-acre forest park, hire a bike, go wild swimming, play golf or visit the 17th-century castle with potager garden. Lovers of history will also want to visit Birr Castle and Nenagh Castle, both within 18 miles, while water-based activities, including boat trips, fishing and kayaking, are to be had on Lough Derg, less than 4 miles away. You’ll also want to lace up your walking boots and head out on the Lough Derg Way, passing along riverbanks, canals, forests and old roadways. Beautiful Killaloe is 25 miles away.

Enter the grounds of this peaceful, detached house through the gates and head up the drive, where there is ample space to park several cars. The lounge has a variety of comfortable seating arranged around a wood burner – perfect for a cosy night at home when the weather cools down. Switch on the Smart TV and you can gather for a movie night or catch up on your favourite box sets to your heart’s content. The room flows round to the generously sized kitchen/diner, where a table for six looks out onto the garden. The kitchen boasts an oven and hob as well as a fridge – all you’ll need to prepare tasty holiday meals – and the adjacent utility room offers extra worktop space as well as laundry facilities and freezer. One of the double bedrooms, which has an en-suite shower, is also on the ground floor, while the two remaining bedrooms, a double with an en-suite WC, and a twin, are both on the first floor. We had a lovely stay! The hiking nearby is absolutely spectacular and the house was very comfortable for our family. Excellent value. The neighbor who manages the property was very kind and came right over when we struggled to figure out the upstairs shower.
