Escape to the chic sophistication of this contemporary holiday home at Carbis Bay, a wonderful retreat for families or friends seeking a stylish base in West Cornwall. Half a mile from the golden sands of Carbis Bay, you can swim, sunbathe, or simply stroll along Porthkidney Sands towards the mouth of the River Hayle in Lelant. For more beach adventures, the 3-mile stretch of Mexico Towans across the Hayle Estuary awaits for long walks, surfing, and seaside fun. Vibrant St Ives is 2 miles away, inviting you to explore its cobbled streets, independent shops, and charming cafes. Art lovers can visit Tate St Ives and the iconic Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. If you decide to venture further afield, Godrevy is great for spotting seals and is located 8 miles away, while Marazion, home to the iconic St Michael's Mount, is only 6 miles away.

Enter via the bright, airy hallway, with clever storage behind double doors hiding a washer and dryer. The first room, a cosy snug, is a perfect spot to curl up on the large L-shaped sofa with a book, or enjoy a movie or gaming session on the Smart TV and PlayStation. The heart of this retreat is the expansive, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space. A vaulted ceiling and two Velux windows fill the room with natural light. The kitchen is fully equipped, and there’s even a wine cooler. The dining table comfortably seats everyone, and this space flows into the living room, featuring two large sofas, a second Smart TV for film nights, and bi-fold doors opening onto the rear garden. The inner hallway leads to two bedrooms – a double with a built-in dressing area, wardrobe, and French doors opening onto a quiet rear courtyard, and a twin (can be made into a superking on request) with an en-suite shower room, built-in dressing table, storage, and French doors to the garden. The master bedroom, accessed from the main living area, is a tranquil haven with a king-size bed, doors leading to the garden, a dressing room with plenty of storage, and an en-suite shower room. A stylish family bathroom rounds off this cottage.

Step outside from the bi-fold doors in the lounge or the gravelled parking area and discover the sun-soaked south-facing terrace. Here, you’ll find a fire pit, BBQ, and a large L-shaped sofa for lounging with friends and family. The outdoor dining table comfortably seats six, making al fresco meals a delight. An outdoor heated shower is also provided for rinsing off after beach days. The gated driveway offers parking for up to three cars, adding convenience to this lovely getaway.

The accommodation was very well equipped and comfortable. Instructions for everything apart from the heating. This was a shame because we were cold at the start. Carbis Bay has changed since I last visited and the sea front has been taken over by the Carbis Bay Hotel charging 10 a day to park if you can find a space. Its a very steep hill to reach Read morethe sea from the bungalow and not suitable for anyone with mobility issues like my brother. We caught a taxi into St Ives which suited us better. Mounts Bay and Hayle are flatter. If you are able the scenery is beautiful and lovely for walkers as near the coast path. Shame accommodation has no sea view. Area my favourite place to stay for a holiday. Bluff Inn at Hayle has fantastic views of the Bay and you can see seals at Godrevey. We had a lovely holiday. Hide
