A lovely hideaway in a tranquil setting, this detached stone cottage is perfect for couples or a small family. Set in peaceful Llandefalle, 8.5 miles from Brecon and 10.5 miles from Hay-on-Wye, it sleeps four guests across two bedrooms and welcomes dogs too. The enticing retreat is just 5 miles from the fringes of Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as the Brecon Beacons, with its plethora of footpaths and trails to follow. Eager climbers can also make the most of being close to the beautiful Black Mountains. Venture 7.5 miles to Llangorse Lake to try kayaking, canoeing or paddleboarding. Head into Brecon to stock up on fresh, local produce. Visit Hay-on-Wye to browse the bookshops, sit down for an afternoon tea or take a canoe out on the River Wye. Venture just 3 miles from the cottage to Llyswen, also on the River Wye, to brave the waters with a wild swim. You can walk from the door onto the open common land with mown pathways to explore and far-reaching views across to Pen Y Fan.

Enter via the back door into this pretty holiday haven to discover accommodation with an abundance of original features, including exposed beams and stonework. The well-appointed country-style kitchen has everything you need to whip up hearty meals. Wander through to the dining room when it is time to gather and plan tomorrow’s itinerary over dinner. Families may want to challenge each other around the dining table to one of the many board games provided for some healthy competition. From the dining area, head over to the welcoming lounge where you can unwind together on the comfy sofas and recover from your exciting excursions. Light the wood burner on chilly days, find a good film on the Smart TV, or settle back and read a good book. As the day draws to a close, climb the stairs to the first floor of the cottage where you will find two comfortable double bedrooms and the family shower room all with with views over the surrounding countryside.

Outside, spend sunny afternoons with your book in the delightful, enclosed garden. The adjacent fields are home to a plethora of wildlife to include sheep, wild ponies and many bird varieties. As stated above, they garden furniture is not fit for purpose. In the cottage certain areas could do with better cleaning . There are a large amount of cobwebs all over the cottage which have been there for some time.

A wonderful cottage where the owner went above and beyond to give us a warm Christmas welcome with a Christmas tree and decorations etc. Perfect size for 4 and fabulous walks/views from the doorstep. The cottage was very well equipped so we had everything we needed for a week's break. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it.

Beautiful property, the old bread oven an outstanding feature. Loved the trinkets and ornaments all over the cottage. Very cosy and would definitely stay again.

This property is in a good, quiet location between Hay-on-Wye and Brecon. Its also just a 5 min drive from a nice, local pub in Llyswen called The Griffen, which serves lovely food. The property itself has lots of character, is well-equipped, clean and in good condition. However, you need to be mindful of the low beams in the bedrooms, as even I Read morehad to duck and Im only 52 tall! Hide

Cozy, comfortable, quiet and away from it all. A lovely view of sheep in the neighbouring field and to sit out and have a coffee.
