Set in the quiet hamlet of Crooklands, this spacious and inviting holiday home offers a lovely base for exploring the beautiful South Lakes, part of the glorious Lake District National Park. The ground-floor apartment sleeps four guests and is moments away from a country pub serving food. A village shop is a mile distant, and you’ll find more eateries and shops in the vibrant market towns of Kendal and Kirby Lonsdale, both within 6 miles. Take a stroll along the scenic Lancaster Canal, which runs through Crooklands, and cruises through stunning countryside during the high season. A walk up to the ruins of historic Kendal Castle offers splendid views of the Lakeland fells and River Kent, while the Abbot Hall art gallery houses an outstanding collection. Visit Levens Hall (3.5 miles), with its splendid topiary gardens and the National Trust’s fine medieval Sizergh Castle (6 miles).

Occupying the entire ground floor of this historic, stone-built property, the inviting apartment is tastefully furnished in a contemporary style. Open the front door to find the well-designed and spacious open-plan living area. This features comfortable seating around the sleek wood burner, with a separate dining area that’s ideal for shared meals, and a neat, all-white kitchen housing all you need on the culinary front. The bright king-size bedroom has a delightful period ornamental fireplace and doors opening onto a private suntrap patio. The twin bedroom, also brightly furnished, offers lovely countryside views, while the stylish wet room has a shower and WC.

Outside, the private patio from the main bedroom is a lovely spot for a quiet drink or al fresco dinner. You can also enjoy a peaceful moment on the shared lawn and riverside patio, listening to the sound of birdsong and the water. Parking is available for one car.

We have stayed here many times over the years and this property suits our needs perfectly. Looking forward to hopefully returning again.

The apartment itself was very nice, excellent location for both the Yorkshire Dales & the Lakes, quiet, excellent off road parking, good food at the nearby pub, comfy beds, full supply of logs for the week, heating availalable when required, powerful shower and friendly locals. However, this was overshadowed by the following; mould on the bathroomRead more blind & shower grouting, the shower floor was dirty & had to be cleaned before we used it, smell of drains in the apartment, the TV was not smart & only had basic channels, there was no welcome pack even a basic item like milk fortunately we brought some with us. no spare liners for the kitchen bin & only one pan with a handle, the glass on the log burner was totally black & took half an hour to clean. We have stayed in many holiday lets & this falls below the standard we are used to. Hide
