Set in an elevated position on the Dyfi Estuary between the coast and the Cambrian mountains, this incredible 19th-century Welsh castle is an out-of-this-world holiday destination. It’s Grade-II listed, with Regency Gothic architecture favoured by John Nash. The local area offers varied activities, from hiking to days at the beach or exploring quirky towns. Head to Aberdyfi, 16.5 miles, for a long, sandy beach, water sports, boat trips and golf, plus a variety of shops and places to eat. Explore Machynlleth, 5.5 miles, for antique shops, art galleries and a vibrant weekly market. From here, you can join the Glyndŵr's Way National Trail and, for a more challenging hike, drive to the Nant-y-Moch Reservoir, 12 miles, to climb Pumlumon, the highest peak in the Cambrian Mountains.

Drive through the castellated entrance to head inside this remarkable property. An elegant drawing room boasts a bar, comfortable seating, wood burner, Smart TV and garden views. A wonderful media room offers an impressive Smart TV, while the octagonal library is home to seating and panoramic views over the estuary. Enjoy rounds of billiards in the panelled billiards room, and darts, shuffleboard or a board game in the games room. The top-of-the-range, bespoke kitchen with breakfast table offers everything you’ll need for group catering, including two steam ovens and two dishwashers. Dine formally in the grand atrium, with a huge, solid-oak table and a bespoke gold-leaf chandelier above. With an outstanding glass ceiling, it’s a stunning setting for remarkable, memorable meals together. One of the 11 bedrooms, a double with an en-suite shower room, is on the ground floor. It has a small step up from its courtyard access, but a ramp can be provided if requested in advance. Also on the ground floor is a boot room, a utility with laundry facilities and two handy WCs. Climb the grand wooden staircase to find six bedrooms on the first floor. The impressive master bedroom has a super-king-size bed, Smart TV and an en-suite bathroom boasting a handsome free-standing bath and a separate shower. Two bedrooms on this level, a twin zip and link and a super-king, share a Jack and Jill bathroom with a bath and separate shower. The remaining three first-floor bedrooms are a super-king, a king and a twin zip and link, all with en-suite showers. Heading up to the second floor, you’ll find the remaining four bedrooms, all with en-suite shower rooms: two super-kings (one of which is in the castle’s turret), one king and one twin zip and link.

Outside, 40 acres of remarkable private grounds await, home to a walled garden, formal parterre with a water feature, woodland with trails, and direct access to the Dyfi Estuary. A terrace with exceptional estuary views and a BBQ is an enchanting place to din also offering sea views, with Aberdyfi in the distance. A private hot tub with seating for ten is an indulgent way to unwind in this exceptional location. Ample private parking is available for 22 cars.
