Famous for its riverside setting, surrounding hills and renowned International Eisteddfod, historic Llangollen is a fine choice for a holiday at any time of year. A small town with a big heart, it has a vibrant selection of stores, cafes, bars and restaurants to satisfy every appetite. You’ll find all these – and more – within strolling distance of this delightful holiday home, located on one of the town’s oldest streets. Less than half a mile from the doorstep, the Dee flows beneath Grade I-listed, 16th-century Llangollen Bridge. Nearby, The Corn Mill has a riverside terrace that makes a great spot for lunch. Afterwards, enjoy a ride on the steam railway or wander to the wharf to take a horse-drawn boat trip along the canal; the spectacular Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is 4.5 miles east. Adventurous types will find range of watersports, walking and cycling routes to enjoy locally. Hike along the Offa’s Dyke trail to the dramatic ruins of Castell Dinas Bran and onto World’s End, a narrow vale between Llangollen and Wrexham (13.5 miles).
Backed by the River Dee, the street you’ll come to call home is lined with characterful terraced cottages, their architecture and facades reflecting the town’s history. Dating from the 19th century, this artfully renovated residence welcomes you straight into a fabulous open-plan living space. An exposed brick chimney breast contrasts with richly-coloured feature walls, fabrics and furnishings, all carefully curated to represent traditional Welsh culture and charm while a Smart TV offers home-from-home entertainment. Beyond, a circular dining suite sits before a second chimney breast – a wood burner will be installed for 2026 – and conveniently close to the kitchen area, where ceiling beams and a Welsh dresser complement the sleek cabinets and counters. Adjacent, a utility space room houses laundry equipment and makes an ideal place for cleaning paws and boots post-walk. Steep and winding cottage-style stairs lead up to the first-floor landing and two slumber-inducing bedrooms. Choose between a double or a twin – for extra flexibility the latter has both a double and a single bed. To the rear, steps lead down to a fabulous family bathroom.
For a breath of fresh air step out into the small, shared garden at the rear of the cottage. For all-weather fun, a garden room with games space is coming for 2026. A permit is available for unallocated on-street parking, and there is a long-stay public car park in town.
