This airy retreat sits in the beautiful Isle of Wight countryside near the town of Brading and welcomes six guests, offering a well-appointed base for families and groups of friends planning island adventures together. The ancient town of Brading (1 mile) abounds with independent restaurants and traditional pubs serving up delicious local produce. It also plays host to the popular Lilliput Doll and Toy Museum as well as plenty of historic buildings and interesting architecture. A popular nearby attraction is Adgestone Vineyard (0.5 miles) – one of the oldest vineyards in the UK where you can enjoy wine tasting, tours, and meals in the on-site restaurant. For more local charm, head to Brading Roman Villa (1.5 miles) or spend the day at Wildheart Animal Sanctuary (2.5 miles). For seaside joy, the sandy shores of Sandown Beach are just 3 miles away.

Before stepping into this contemporary holiday lodge, take a moment to appreciate its tranquil position that overlooks rolling countryside and offers glimpses of the ocean. Head inside and kick off muddy walking boots in the hallway before moving through to the social heart of the home – the open-plan lounge, kitchen and diner. Natural light floods this space thanks to triple-aspect windows and glass doors that lead to the peaceful patio. Unwind in the lounge area after days of adventure; sink into the soft seating, fire up the wood burner, and catch your favourite shows on the Smart TV. When stomachs rumble, a sleek corner kitchen boasts everything needed for a self-catered break, while the adjacent dining table is perfect for planning the next day’s itinerary over dinner. At the end of each busy day away, three restful bedrooms await: a master king-size room with an en-suite shower room and two king-size bedrooms with zip-and-link beds that convert to twins on request. Completing the interior is a well-appointed family bathroom.

Outside, guests will find a scenic and enclosed garden perfect for relaxation. Let little ones play on the lawn while the adults gather at the furnished patio for evening tipples. Look forward to nights of stargazing from the private hot tub, and benefit from private parking for two cars.

Ava Lodge has been very stylishly designed and decorated, whilst still being really comfortable and relaxing. The surroundings are peaceful and serene, and the owners have plans to add things that will make it even more appealing with work being done on the grounds. The kitchen is well equipped. There are so many nice little touches. The bed is as Read moreincredibly comfortable and brilliant water pressure for the showers. It took us a little bit of time to get the hang of the hot tub and getting this up to the right temperature. The owners live on the same land, so they are around and very quick to respond to any requests (you can buy wood and kindling from them for the hot tub). There are lots of things to do, as nowhere is very far away. We loved Yaverland beach for daily dog walks. When we were there we needed to book pubs/restaurants, so its worth planning ahead. Hide

We had a relaxing stay at Ava Lodge. It is modern, clean and airy, with high ceilings and large windows overlooking fields and the sea - we enjoyed spotting boats and local wildlife. It felt spacious for six of us, with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and enough bathrooms to make things easy. The setting feels nicely tucked away with uRead moreninterrupted views to the front. Parking is a short walk from the lodge rather than directly beside it, which is helpful to know when arriving. The wood-fired eco hot tub is a lovely feature, but it does take time and effort to heat, particularly in colder months, so its worth bearing in mind that its a little different from a typical hot tub. A fun touch was the local photography in the lodge - we enjoyed visiting some of the featured spots during our stay. Overall, a peaceful, airy place with plenty of space for families looking to unwind. Hide
