Located in the tranquil countryside where Herefordshire, Shropshire, and the Welsh borders meet, this detached cottage is an excellent base for a memorable family getaway. Right on your doorstep is Mortimer’s Trail, a scenic walking route that stretches from Ludlow to Kington and passes right by the property. Spend the day venturing around the National Trust’s Croft Castle and parkland just 6 miles away or Berrington Hall (9 miles). The area is also laced with cycle routes suitable for all levels, so don’t forget the bikes! For a taste of local charm, follow the Black and White Village Trail, which takes in some of Herefordshire’s prettiest villages, including Pembridge, Eardisland, and Weobley. Each offers timber-framed houses, independent tea rooms, and village greens where children can run free. Within a 23-mile radius, you’ll find bustling market towns such as Leominster (9 miles), Ludlow (8 miles), and Hay-on-Wye, all brimming with character. Try kayaking on the River Wye, test your skills on nearby mountain bike trails, or venture out to the Brecon Beacons for breathtaking views and wild open spaces.

Tucked away behind mature gardens, the cottage welcomes you in through the rear entrance and into a spacious porch for shedding muddy boots and coats after a countryside walk. There's also a convenient ground-floor cloakroom with WC and washbasin just off the porch. Step through to the main lounge, an inviting room with a Smart TV and a glowing wood burner at its heart. Just beyond, a bright garden room beckons with comfortable seating and doors that open outside – ideal for morning coffee or a peaceful afternoon read. A second lounge provides another hideaway, complete with books and board games for rainy-day fun. The generously sized kitchen/diner is fully equipped for self-catering stays, with everything you need to rustle up delicious meals and a large dining table for gathering everyone together. A handy utility room with a fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, and plenty of storage keeps things practical and fuss-free. Upstairs, two spacious bedrooms – a double and a twin – boast lovely countryside views. A contemporary shower room rounds off the interior.

Outside, you'll find an enclosed, well-established garden with views across the fields, a patio seating area for al fresco dining, charcoal BBQ, a secure bike shed, and gated off-road parking for up to three cars.

A great cottage in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside. It has great views, the garden is lovely and was ideal for our dogs. The place felt very homely with a nice lounge with a log burner. There's plenty to do, lots of walks, and parkland and a village a short drive or a mile walk away. We had a great stay, the only thing that let us down was the weather. Hide

Stone Cottage is beautifully located with a big garden - perfect for our dogs to have zoomies and snuffle time. The downstairs is more spacious than many 2-bed cottages we've stayed at and the kitchen was very well equipped.
