Embrace nature in this delightful countryside hideaway for two, located within the Nidderdale National Landscape. The property makes the perfect base for keen walkers, with easy access to the network of tracks and trails through the Yorkshire Dales, including the long-distance Ripon Rowel (passing front gate) and the Nidderdale Way (5 miles away). The elegant city of Ripon is just 6 miles away and is bursting with history and heritage – be sure to visit the magnificent 7th-century cathedral during your stay. The city also has a fantastic range of independent shops and eateries, and you’ll find further dining-out options in the nearby market towns of Pateley Bridge (6.5 miles), Masham (9 miles) and Harrogate (11 miles). There are some excellent attractions within easy reach of the holiday home, including Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden (3 miles), and Brimham Rocks (4.5 miles).

The converted stone barn sits on a peaceful lane on the owner’s small holding, a former dairy farm, surrounded by open countryside. The small holding has a small flock of sheep and free range chicken. Inside, the accommodation is all on one level and the property has been renovated with traditional building materials creating a cosy stay and decorated in a country-cottage style. The holiday home has a studio-style layout, and the main living space is a bright and inviting lounge/kitchen/diner/bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and exposed trusses. Tucked away in one corner is a well-appointed kitchen area with everything needed to prepare delicious dinners for two, which you can share at the wooden dining table. In the evenings, light the wood burner and snuggle up on the sofa to watch a movie on the Smart TV. When it’s time for bed, sink into the sumptuous king-size bed for a good night’s sleep. A separate shower room rounds off the accommodation.

Outside, the enclosed garden has a choice of areas for relaxing and soaking up the Yorkshire sunshine. There’s also a BBQ for al fresco dining in summer months. Depending on the season you may hear various wildlife birds and even spot them flying over the fields. The property has private parking for two cars.

We had an amazing stay at The Old Milking Parlour. It is a real home from home, with everything you need for a very comfortable stay; its decor is beautiful with really stylish touches. The bed is super comfy and the shower is fabulous. Being located on a small holding, it was lovely to see the animals (I was sorry to have missed the lambs being boRead morern) and we enjoyed watching the woodpeckers on the bird feeders. The location is great and some lovely walks straight from the doorstep. Overall, highly recommended. Hide

I am a widower and I still enjoy getting to see new places. The cottage is well equipped and the insulation proved effective as Storm Amy raged overnight when I was there and I managed to sleep soundly. A lovely area to visit and I enjoyed my stay there.
