Head to the beach (0.5 miles) to surf, sunbathe or hunt for treasures in the rockpools, or explore Northam Burrows Country Park, where wildlife thrives amongst the rolling sand dunes. Visit the charming villages of Appledore (2 miles) and Instow (2.5 miles), travelling between the two on the river by passenger ferry during the summer months. Alternatively, follow the coastal path to Abbotsham Cliffs (5 miles) for breathtaking cliff-top views. Younger guests will love a day out at The Big Sheep theme park (3 miles), and you’ll find a great selection of pubs and eateries in Bideford (2.5 miles) or Barnstaple (8.5 miles) to round off your day.
