A handsome, period retreat in the Derbyshire village of Matlock Bath, this impressive listed victorian property is perfect for an extended family or large group of friends. Sleeping seven guests, the four-bedroom retreat offers four storeys of accommodation from its commanding position beside the picturesque River Derwent. Stroll less than 500 metres to immerse yourselves in the natural beauty of Derwent Gardens. Take the younger members of your party on a trip to Gulliver’s Kingdom, 0.5 miles away, while everyone will have a fun day out at the Heights of Abraham, 1 mile from the house. Here you can ride cable cars, tour caverns and explore the 60-acre park. Venture just 2 miles to find yourselves in the fringes of the magnificent Peak District National Park. Decide to spend an afternoon touring the splendid stately homes and wandering the estates of Chatsworth House, 10 miles away, or Haddon Hall, 12 miles away.

Enter the attractive, symmetrical, Georgian-style house from the road at ground-floor level. Hang your coats and leave your shoes at the end of the hall before deciding whether to settle for a spell in one of the two inviting lounges. Each of these spaces has been decorated with sophistication and flair and features a cosy wood burner to stoke up on chilly evenings. The first lounge makes a great place to gather for a movie night in front of the Smart TV, while the second lounge is perfect for those wishing to retire with a good book. There is also a sofa bed in one of the lounges. Make your way up to the first floor, where three of your bedrooms and a gorgeous bathroom, with a free-standing bath, are situated. These bedrooms include a double, a twin and a single. An additional bedroom, an enticing king-size with a wood burner, is on the floor below, together with another wonderful bathroom, this time with both a free-standing bath and a walk-in shower. Venture down another set of stairs to find yourselves at the superb garden level of the house. This is where the inviting kitchen/diner, with its whitewashed stone wall, country-style cabinets and farmhouse table, is located. Prepare delicious meals for your party in here, then gather round the table to feast together. There is also a handy utility room here, where you can open the door to access the beautiful garden.

The outside space at this unique retreat is a lush oasis of greenery. Enjoy al fresco dining on the enclosed patio while soaking in the stunning views over the river. Venture carefully down the steps—keeping a close eye on children and pets—to reach the riverbank, where you can paddle your feet, cast a line for some fishing, or even launch a kayak for a relaxing trip down the river
