Located at the heart of Drumnadrochit on the western shore of Loch Ness, built on the site of the former ferryman’s dwelling, this bothy has been skilfully converted into a romantic escape for two. Holidays here can be as busy or as laid back as you like. Easily reached from your doorstep are many activities including the iconic Urquhart Castle and the Loch Ness Centre, you can sample the village eateries and enjoy strolls along the water’s edge at your own pace. The village makes a great base for Highland adventures further afield too – it is set along the Great Glen Way, surrounded by Glen Urquhart, Glen Affric and Glen Moriston, and close to the Abriachan Forest, so you’re perfectly placed to explore some of Scotland’s most breath-taking trails. For more leisurely sightseeing, take a cruise on Loch Ness, or witness first-hand the beauty of the Moray Firth at Inverness, 15 miles north.

After active days out, this gorgeous holiday home is an oasis of calm. Once home to the boatman who ferried passengers across the river behind the bothy, it’s now a romantic studio-style space for two, renovated to the highest standard and exquisitely detailed. Step inside and at one end of the property, discover the two comfortable armchairs arranged before a Smart TV and a wood-burner-effect gas fire. A striking exposed stone wall adds cohesion as this space continues into a cottage-style kitchen and dining area. At the opposite end of the property, wood panelling and pretty wallpaper provide the backdrop for a beautiful brass-framed bed. Close by, the bathroom is styled just as skilfully, with a roll-top bath which, once filled, is sure to soothe any aching muscles.

Your living space extends into an expansive and fully enclosed garden where you’ll find lounge-style seating amid the lawned area, plus a feature pond and raised decking with sun loungers and additional outdoor dining furniture. An undercover hot tub elevates your leisure time, and there’s a fire pit to keep you cosy as dusk descends.

This is a beautiful small cottage in the heart of the village. The quality and design of the interior was of a very high standard. The mix of old and new is perfectly done. The kitchen area is small but has everything thing you need to cook meals. Everything was immaculate, smelled good and was extremely comfortable. The garden was beautiful too anRead mored ideal for the dog to run around. This is not a remote or rural location so there is a bit of road noise. The flip side is that you have easy access to some shops and cafes. If you have a dog that likes big open spaces to run, then just stroll up to the campsite about a mile away where there is an enclosed field. Hide
