This three-storey house is full of character and makes a fabulous getaway for large families or groups of friends. Located on a working farm within rolling East Anglian countryside, it’s ideal for anyone looking to recharge in a tranquil environment. There’s so much to do within easy reach, from exploring the ancient churches which dot the area to discovering farm shops offering delicious local produce and country pubs where you can try a local ale. Walk or cycle through ancient woodlands and along old Roman roads and quiet country lanes, or head to the River Waveney for fishing and canoeing. Bungay is 5.5 miles away, gateway to the Broads and home to a fascinating ruined Medieval castle. Head to the coast at Southwold or Aldeburgh, 15 and 24 miles respectively, or take a day trip to the city of Norwich, only 21.5 miles.

Step into the hallway of this impressive property and you’ll immediately feel its wonderful atmosphere, thanks to dark woods, rugged beams and antique furnishings. Head through to the spacious lounge, where there’s ample seating, a Smart TV and a wood burner set into a brick fireplace – perfect for cosy nights in. The country-style kitchen includes an Aga, an electric oven and hob, and a microwave. This room also has a breakfast table where four people can enjoy a quick snack or a drink. The separate dining room, which accommodates nine people, is ideal for celebratory suppers together. The ground floor is completed by a utility room with a washing machine and a separate WC. When you’re ready for bed, you’ll find two staircases which lead up to the first floor, where there are two of the four bedrooms: the king-size with an en-suite shower room, and a family room with a double and single bed. There’s also a family bathroom with a gorgeous roll-top bath (with a shower over) on this level. The remaining two bedrooms, a double and a twin, are on the second floor (reached via cottage-style stairs), both of them beautiful rooms with sloping ceilings – meaning that taller people may need to mind their heads in places.

The huge grounds which wrap around the house are absolutely stunning, with mature trees and two large ponds. There’s a dedicated patio area with outdoor furniture and a gas BBQ, where you can enjoy fresh air and al fresco dining. There’s also a pool house with a private, indoor swimming pool (33’ x 20’, depth 3’ 6” to 7’ 6”), available from April to October. It has changing facilities and plenty of seating. Parking is on the private driveway, with room for three cars.

We had a very enjoyable stay at this old cottage in its lovely grounds. And the indoor swimming pool was superb too. An added bonus was that the owner was on hand the whole time, and very helpful. Including taking us to see some new born lambs on his farm, just hours after they were born. A real delight! Thank You from all my family.

The cottage is lovely, and old. There are a lot of features that are because it is an old building (sloping floors, creaky, not sound proof), but there is so much character. The pool was amazing and the rope swing was so much fun. We absolutely loved hanging out with the owners dogs, who were a huge hit with us all. We stayed as a group of couples with two young children. It is a gorgeous house, with plenty of room for a big family. This is the best equipped holiday house we've stayed in, with everything you need to cook, plenty of crockery and glassware, multiple high chairs, multiple baby gates which we could put up where necessary. The house was beautifulllRead morey decorated for Christmas and we were greeted with a roaring fire in the log burner which was much appreciated in cold December! A close drive to Bungay and Southwold, this was the perfect house to see in the new year in the countryside. The children particularly loved seeing the peacocks come to the front door in the morning! We'd love to return in the summer. Many thanks for a great stay Hide
