A delightful annexe in Marks Corner, this charming Isle of Wight retreat is perfect for couples or a small family. Sleeping two + two guests, the two-bedroom hideaway nestles in wooded surroundings, 4 miles from Cowes and 7 miles from Newport. Pull on your walking boots and stroll straight out to explore magnificent Parkhurst Forest, keeping your eyes open for red squirrels as you go. Hop on your bikes and cycle just 2 miles to Thorness Bay Beach, where you can paddle, hunt for fossils and take in the views out across the Solent. For traditional seaside family fun on the beach, try sandy Ryde, 13.5 miles away. Head into Cowes to explore the boutiques, galleries and eateries and visit the vibrant marina to watch the sailing boats come and go. Any children in your party will be eager to spend time at the fascinating Monkey Haven rescue centre, 8.5 miles away.

Make your way into this woodland wonder via a private entrance beside the owner’s home. Despite this being annexe accommodation, your privacy and peace are assured. Enter to discover a bright, welcoming hallway that flows effortlessly into a stylish, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with bi-folding doors to the garden at one end. Renovated to a high standard to feature natural, earthy modern tones, it encompasses a sleek kitchen. Prepare delicious meals here during your stay, then sit down to enjoy them on a stool at the breakfast bar or at the table. Make fresh coffee in the machine, then carry it over to the plush lounge to sip as you watch the Smart TV. Sink back into the soft velvet seating and gaze out over the verdant garden. Pull the doors back in the summer to create seamless indoor/outdoor living. As each day draws to a close, make your way upstairs for an excellent night’s sleep in the serene king-size bedroom with its leafy views. There is also a bunk room up here for children in your party. A contemporary shower room completes the upper floor.

Step outside through the bi-folding doors to discover your private patio. This is screened off from the owner’s outside seating area and is the perfect place to unwind with a cold drink on a hot summer day. The lawned garden is shared with the owners, but guests are very welcome to enjoy it as much as they wish and to say hello to the friendly chickens. Beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet area. Had been done out to a high standard and had everything we needed. In a quiet countryside setting so no problem sleeping as so quiet there and also a very comfy bed. The owners had compiled an A4 file with lots of information, from instruction how to use the various electrical equipment to places of inteRead morerest and ideas of where to eat. Owner was friendly and helpful and had left a welcome pack, local milk and cheese, eggs from their own hens and a bottle of wine, which was very kind of them. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and would book there again if we return to isle of Wight. Hide

Lovely little annex, in a peaceful location, with a patio looking out over a nice garden. The chickens were sweet & very quiet. Beautiful birdsong from the forest to the front & spectacular sunsets, through the trees, to the rear. A good central location, with easy access & parking. The property had everything we needed. A beautifully converted annexe, with everything you could need, and spotlessly clean. Situated not far from Newport but in a rural location. The owners are friendly and helpful and were kind enough to let the chickens out each day during our stay, although they had planned to keep them in to revive the grass. Thoughtful touches included the local cRead moreheese, milk and eggs provided. All in all, a delightful place to stay and ideally situated for exploring the island. Hide

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Meadow Wood! The hosts could not be more helpful and the eggs were a special touch! We could not recommend highly enough. Location is perfect and you can get to either end of the island in half an hour!
