A delightful North Devon retreat, this enticing cottage is perfect for families and friends wishing to get away from it all. Set in scenic, rural surroundings, 4 miles from Great Torrington, the three-bedroom abode, which sleeps six guests, is 10.5 miles from Bideford, where you can dine out and stock up on groceries. Okehampton, on the fringes of magnificent Dartmoor, is 19.5 miles away. Make a picnic and head 14 miles to the spectacular beach at Westward Ho! and visit pretty Appledore to potter in the shops, stop for afternoon tea and hop on a ferry to the beach at Instow. Plan a trip to picture-postcard Clovelly, 22.5 miles away, where cars are not allowed and donkeys and sledges have historically been used to carry loads up and down the cobbled streets. Walk or cycle along the Tarka Trail from Torrington or pick up the South West Coast Path at Westward Ho!.

Take a couple of steps up to enter this welcoming home away from home. Unwind together in the beautiful lounge, with its beamed ceiling and exposed stone fireplace. Light the wood burner here during cooler seasons. Sink back into the comfort of the plump sofas and set up a board game or find a film on the Smart TV. Choose a book from the shelves or perhaps attempt a jigsaw puzzle. Amble through to the spacious kitchen/diner to prepare hearty feasts for your party. Open the French doors in here on summer days to bring the sunshine flooding in. Gather round the table for celebratory, holiday meals or perch at the breakfast bar with a slice of toast and a cup of coffee. Also downstairs is a useful utility/shower room, where you can leave muddy boots and shoes or rinse off after trips to the beach. A separate downstairs WC is located off the entrance hallway. Climb the stairs to the three charming bedrooms: a king-size bedroom, a family room with a king-size and a single bed, and a single bedroom, all with characterful beamed and sloping ceilings. There is also the family bathroom, where you can choose between a steaming shower or a long soak in the tub.

Spill out into the sunshine of the gravelled patio area on fine days. Have your first cup of tea outside as you listen to the birds. Grill supper on the BBQ in the evening and pop open a bottle of wine under the stars. Amble over to the shared games barn to play pool, table tennis or darts. Guests are also welcome to meet and join in with feeding the animals on the farm, including: Daphne and Delilah (the gentle rescue donkeys), Dave and Roy (the playful young donkeys), Joe and Ferdie (the horses), the cheerful ex-battery hens, Rufus, the retired guide dog and his sidekick pup, Daisy, plus the growing family of rescued pigs and sheep. There is private parking for two cars.
