A characterful bolthole for couples or small families, this delightful cottage is set in the lovely village of Marhamchurch, just 2 miles from Bude and 3 miles from Widemouth Bay. Head to the coast and build sandcastles on stunning beaches, learn to surf or sea kayak, explore rock pools and take the little ones to Bude’s famous sea pool. There’s a choice of places to eat and drink in Bude, but if you feel like a quiet night you could simply stroll to Marhamchurch’s village pub, which is just metres away. Walkers will want to stride out on the coast path, or head inland on the numerous walks in glorious countryside. For a family day out, both the Milky Way Adventure Park and magical Tintagel Castle are just 17 miles away, or you may want to take a trip to beautiful Clovelly, 17.5 miles.
The cottage is an enticing blend of contemporary amenities with historic features, and inside you’ll find low ceilings, internal steps, exposed stone and rugged ceiling beams all adding to the atmosphere. At the front door, step down and straight into the classic country kitchen, with a charming Welsh dresser as well as modern appliances, including a fridge/freezer and a microwave. When the cook has prepared a delicious meal, gather in the dining room that leads off the kitchen to enjoy spending sociable time together. Stroll over to the cosy lounge afterwards, and you’ll find a choice of comfortable seating, gathered round a Smart TV – the perfect spot for an evening of family films. There’s a window seat, too, where you could sit with a quiet cup of coffee or a book from the shelves and enjoy the tranquility. Completing the ground floor is a WC. Cottage-style stairs lead you up to the first floor, where there’s a beautifully designed, family bathroom (two steps down) and two delightful bedrooms, a spacious double and a sweet twin, both tucked under the eaves and decorated in pale, muted tones to enhance a good night’s sleep.
Wander down quaint paths to discover the spacious garden, with hidden-away areas and glorious views of rolling fields and vast skies, and the sea in the far distance. There’s a choice of places to sit and unwind in this stunning setting, and if you feel like being more active you can cook up something tasty on the BBQ to enjoy alfresco. Children will love the play set, which includes a sandpit.
