A peaceful rural retreat in a prime spot between Cardiff and Newport (both 6 miles), this beautiful former stable has been lovingly converted to offer couples and small families a delightful holiday cottage. Spend the day exploring Cardiff’s many attractions – from the iconic castle and buzzing theatres to championship golf courses, shops, and popular Cardiff Bay packed with bars and restaurants. Newport also has excellent shopping and cultural venues and is home to the renowned Celtic Manor Resort (12 miles). Nature lovers won’t want to miss RSPB Newport Wetlands (11 miles) with its birdwatching hides, scenic nature trails, visitor centre, and children’s play area. History buffs can step back in time at Caerleon (11 miles), which boasts the remains of a Roman fortress, amphitheatre and bathhouse, along with the National Roman Legion Museum.

Before stepping into this welcoming conversion, take a moment to soak in its stone façade and verdant surroundings that set the scene for a comfortable stay. Step through the stable-style door and be greeted by a well-appointed, country-style kitchen with wooden accents and everything needed for cooking up Welsh feasts. Carry plates through to the open-plan lounge/diner – the social heart of the home – where you can enjoy the chef’s work around the table. After dinner, unwind in the lounge space, which is flooded with natural light thanks to the French doors that lead to the patio and garden. On chilly evenings, fire up the wood burner and flick on the Smart TV for a cosy movie night together. At the end of each busy day away, retire to a choice of two restful bedrooms. These rooms include a master king-size with French doors offering access to the garden, plus a cosy single bedroom. A well-equipped family shower room serves the bedrooms and completes the interior.
