A unique holiday retreat in the lovely Perthshire village of Comrie, this quirky hideaway is a fabulous place to stay, whatever the season. Sleeping four guests and welcoming canine companions, the two-bedroom cottage encompasses single-storey accommodation and a garden with a hot tub and summer house. Set 6.5 miles from Crieff and 24 miles from Perth, the village, which lies between Glen Lednock and Glen Artney, is known for its 1870s stone building believed to have been the very first dedicated earthquake observatory in the world. Take the children to the Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre, with its petting farm, zoo and play area or go mountain biking at Comrie Croft, 2 miles away. History enthusiasts might wish to visit Cultybraggan Camp, 2 miles away and the only remaining World War II POW camp in Scotland. At Loch Earn, 6 miles away, you can go fishing, paddle boarding and kayaking.

Take a moment to rinse your muddy boots, bikes or happy hound under the outside hand-held shower in the enclosed garden before taking two steps up to enter via the front door. Leave your walking boots and outerwear in the hall, then amble through to the lounge/diner to light the wood burner and sit back on the inviting, velvet sofa. Find a film on the Smart TV or settle down to a family game. There is also space to dine in here, over by the windows. The colourful kitchen features everything you will need to help you prepare the tasty Scottish produce you have sourced. Make a fresh coffee from the machine to enjoy at the breakfast bar. At the end of each exciting day away, wander through to either the king-size bedroom or the comfortable twin to treat yourselves to a great night’s sleep. A stylish, contemporary, family shower room completes the layout.

Step out into the enclosed garden via the kitchen. Grill supper on the BBQ on summer nights, bask in the hot tub and linger over a bottle of wine together in the heated summer house. The outside hot tap and abundance of storage for your outdoor gear are a bonus. There is private, off-road parking for one car in front of the house, and additional on-street parking which is subject to availability.
