This characterful fisherman’s cottage sits just 100 metres from the harbour in the heart of Appledore and offers charming accommodation to families and groups of friends planning seaside adventures together. Step out to explore Appledore, popular for its waterside scenery and cobbled streets busy with local shops, art galleries, and many welcoming pubs and eateries. On sunny days, stroll along the sand dunes, perhaps stopping for fish and chips on a scenic bench. The historic fishing village of Instow sits across the water – drive 5 miles to reach this charming spot or hop aboard the summer foot ferry for a quicker, more memorable journey. Walkers will love the trails leading away from Instow, including the Tarka Trail and the dramatic South West Coast Path. Other nearby hot spots include Westward Ho!, Bideford, Saunton, and the glorious North Devon National Landscape (all within 18 miles).
On arrival, step off the street and into the warm and welcoming lounge/diner, where two comfy sofas are arranged around a Smart TV and a crackling wood burner set within a striking stone fire place. When stomachs begin to rumble, move through to the well-appointed cottage kitchen where chic blue units combine with modern amenities to provide everything needed for cooking up seaside feasts. Gather back in the lounge/diner to enjoy the chef’s work or dine alfresco out in the furnished courtyard. Completing the ground floor is a handy utility room with a washing machine, plus a well-equipped shower room. At the end of each busy day away, climb the oak staircase to the first floor and uncover three restful bedrooms – two king-size rooms and a single bedroom that can also be used as an office space. Serving the first-floor and completing the home is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath, bidet and WC.
Accessible from the kitchen is a sweet courtyard with a table and chairs (and cheerful orange walls) – ideal for fresh morning coffees and al fresco dinners on balmy evenings. While no private parking is available, on-street parking surrounds the property (subject to availability), while several paid car parks are also nearby.
