Deep within Wensleydale walking territory, within a red squirrel sanctuary, surrounded by beautiful grounds and abundant wildlife, this handsome holiday home invites larger groups of family and friends to embrace a slower pace of life and explore the wonders of the Dales. Located directly on the Pennine Way, it’s a dream base for long-distance walkers eager to lace up their boots each morning and head straight out. Explore Dodd Fell (6.5 miles), where the flat summit offers breathtaking views over the Sleddale valley, or seek out the enchanting waterfalls at Hardraw Force and Cotter Force (both 4.5 miles). The nearest market town is Hawes (4 miles), home to the world-famous Wensleydale Creamery and the Dales Countryside Museum – a great place to delve into the heritage of this iconic National Park. Further afield, the charming market towns of Settle (19.5 miles), Ingleton (14.5 miles), and Kirkby Lonsdale (21 miles) are all well worth a full afternoon’s visit.

Exposed stone walls, double-height vaulted ceilings and original wooden beams bring authentic country character to this impressive cottage. Perfect for multi-generational groups, the ground floor offers a variety of spaces to relax and socialise, including a games room with table football and a conservatory lined with windows and comfy seating. Settle into the sunroom to gaze out over the grounds – you might even spot a red squirrel or other wildlife passing through. A large lounge/diner features a wood burner and a TV, creating a cosy setting for quiet evenings, with the kitchen conveniently located next door. A utility room and ground-floor WC add practicality, and the first of five bedrooms – a welcoming double – is also located on this level. From the lounge, a few steps lead up to a mezzanine seating area and the second bedroom, a charming twin room. The main staircase, found in the entrance hallway, leads up to three further bedrooms: two doubles and one king-size, each with its own character and soft, cosy linens. Two of these rooms (one double and the king-size) benefit from en-suite bathrooms, while a well-appointed family bathroom with both a bath and a shower serves the remaining guests.

Step outside to fully appreciate the splendour of the surrounding landscape. A large, enclosed patio provides a secure space for children to play and a tranquil setting for al fresco relaxation. What a beautiful location, so peaceful and quiet, the views are amazing. The house was just perfect for a group of eight adults to enjoy games around the main table, share food, go for walks and read in the conservatory. The red squirrel sanctuary is within a stone's throw of the cottage and early risers enjoyed watching them feed and posing for Read morethe camera. Whilst wifi and signal was hit and miss at times this was actually welcomed by all, no interruptions and no cheating on games! We visited the Hawes' Cheese factory, the local museum and were lucky in that a craft fair was also on in the local town. A lovely break which ended too soon. Loved the decor and feel of the house, highly recommended. Thank you. Hide
