Set deep in Lakeland walking territory, this traditional country cottage offers a pet-friendly retreat for hikers and cyclists keen to explore the magnificent Cumbrian landscape. Step out in any direction and you'll find waymarked footpaths and well-trodden routes in abundance. Head to Whitbarrow (5.5 miles), a vast nature reserve offering sweeping views of the Lake District Fells and Morecambe Bay, rich with wildflowers and remarkable fauna. From here, you can enjoy vistas over Lake Windermere − one of the area’s most iconic lakes − situated around 7 miles from the property. Walk along the lake’s banks, enjoy water sports and sailing, or visit the charming nearby towns and villages, including Windermere (9.5 miles) and neighbouring Bowness-on-Windermere (8 miles). Once you’ve taken in the majesty of the lake, head down to the coast. The seaside town of Grange-over-Sands lies just 9.5 miles away, with scenic coastal walks leading down to Humphrey Head (13.5 miles).

Homely and welcoming, this cosy cottage is decorated in an authentic Lakeland style, with comfortable decor and an abundance of soft furnishings. Step into the beamed living room with its sofas, armchairs, open fire, and Smart TV − the perfect spot for cosy evenings. There is also a sunroom at the rear of the property with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the breathtaking Lyth Valley views. With plenty of comfortable seating, it’s an ideal place to unwind with a book or magazine. Attached to the sunroom, there is a second bathroom containing a shower, basin and WC. Completing the ground floor is a well-equipped kitchen/diner, featuring all the essentials for family mealtimes and a dining table to gather around. Upstairs, two thoughtfully presented bedrooms await − a double and a twin − both dressed with soft linens and plush mattresses. These are served by a family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Patio doors from the sunroom lead out to the enclosed garden, where you can take in even more of the spectacular valley scenery. This low-walled outdoor space features a spacious patio and seating area, perfect for a morning coffee or evening sundowner.

Apart from the comment above our stay was excellent. The views are beautiful and peace and quiet. And there was everything in the cottage we needed.

Peacefully located, quirky, clean and well equipped cottage with beautiful view from the patio. Initially we found the narrow lanes and parking at the cottage difficult but soon worked out a system. Apparently, HOWE is classified as a hamlet which don`t have village signs on the roadside so it is easy to drive through without realising it.

Lovely cottage with great views, clean, attractive and comfortable. More detail about walks from the front door wouldve helped too. The patio area at the back is unfenced so dog owners also need this info
