This characterful barn conversion, spread over three levels and set on a welcoming, family-run farm, is tucked away in a peaceful location on the edge of the Lake District National Park—just 5 miles from the bustling market town of Cockermouth. Sleeping up to six guests, it is perfect for families or groups of friends looking to discover the quieter side of the Lakes. The tranquil waters of Bassenthwaite (5 miles) and Derwentwater (13 miles) offer scenic walks and picnic spots, while hikers will appreciate being within easy reach of Skiddaw (9 miles) and Blencathra (17 miles). For a change of scenery, head west to the sandy shores of Allonby (13 miles). Well worth a visit is the award winning Armathwaite Spa (4.5 miles), offering a highly personalised spa experience. Cockermouth offers a delightful mix of independent shops, cafes, and restaurants serving locally inspired dishes. Nearby attractions like The Lakes Distillery (3.5 miles) and the Lake District Wildlife Park (4.5 miles) make for enjoyable day trips.

As you enter, a hallway leads to two ground-floor bedrooms: one with bunk beds, perfect for children but equally suitable for adults, and a master bedroom with a king-size bed and direct access to a private rear courtyard. Completing the ground floor is a family bathroom. Upstairs, on the first floor, the heart of the home is a spacious and light-filled open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area—ideal for bringing everyone together. The modern kitchen is fully equipped to prepare hearty family meals, while the living area is arranged to make the most of the views across the surrounding fells, all visible from the large rear windows. A Smart TV provides evening entertainment, and a mezzanine level offers a cosy additional seating area with even better views. Guests can access a shared laundry room with washing machines, books, DVDs, and board games. Adjacent to this is a games room featuring a pool table, dart board, music system, and extra seating—perfect for a rainy-day retreat.

Outside, the shared grounds offer a host of delights: enjoy a picnic beside the tranquil pond, visit friendly animals such as goats and alpacas, or even meet some of the resident owls. The cottage was lovely, the owners were very friendly, and the arrival package was great, particularly the homemade bread and eggs.

Fantastic cottage and amenities, a home from home. The use of the spa is an added bonus and well worth the visit. Location is good for Keswick, Cockermouth and other areas and beaches. Would definitely return
