A handsome period retreat in a tranquil position in coastal North Berwick, this attractive property is perfect for a family, or friends keen to be close to the sea. Sleeping five guests, the three-bedroom, red sandstone cottage welcomes four-legged friends and comes with an enclosed garden. From here stroll just 0.5 miles to the sandy beach, with its views over to the island of Craigleith and Bass Rock. Take a boat trip out around the islands from the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick and pause near Bass Rock to see the largest Northern gannet colony in the world. Walk 1.5 miles from the cottage up to the summit of North Berwick Law, an ancient volcanic hill with panoramic views across the town and beyond. Browse in the town’s independent shops; pause for a meal in one of its many eateries and play a round at its renowned golf club.

Take three steps up to let yourselves into the house via the elegant front door. Leave your beach shoes or walking boots in the hall and stroll on through to the bright, airy lounge. Sink back into one of the plush, dark blue velvet sofas to stream your current boxset on the Smart TV or choose a DVD to watch. Select a book or a board game instead. When it is time to whip up the next meal, make your way through to the impressive kitchen/diner, with its chic, black high-gloss units and breakfast bar. Open the door to the garden on summer days as you chop, and simmer then set the table for your feast. After each fabulous day away in North Berwick, ascend the stairs to the first floor of the house and your beautiful bedrooms. These include a cosy single, a lovely super-king, with a Smart TV, seating area and good storage, and a king-size with lots of space for your belongings too. The family bathroom, with its relaxing spa bath, where you can bubble in steaming hot water before bed, is also here.

Carry your first cup of tea of the day out into the enclosed, mature garden on sunny mornings. Let any children or pets play together on the grass. Chat out here over a bottle of wine as the sun goes down later. Parking for this property is on the street, subject to availability.

This property was well located for the seafront, the centre of the town and the train station is only a couple of minutes walk away. The house is comfortable and we were easily able to find a parking space nearby to the property, although we were staying slightly out of season. North Berwick makes a good base for exploring the local area and is onRead morely a 30 minute train journey away from Esdinburgh. Hide

Loved it! A fabulous stay at The Croft. The house is very comfortable and cozy for a chilly week in Scotland. My husband and I particularly enjoyed the super-king bed! One of the main attractions for us is to be assured a good nights sleep. The house is excellently located. Only a 5-10 minute walk from the high street with all its lovely independenRead moret shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. Same distance to the picturesque beach. The area is pretty dog friendly so we managed to eat out a number of times. 5 min walk away is the train station so you can get to Edinburgh in 30 mins without having to worry about parking. My son and husband enjoyed walking up The Law nearby. The National museum of flight is only a 15 min drive which I enjoyed more that I thought I would. Its very impressive. All in all a lovely home in a wonderful location. Hope to return. Hide
