Just returned from Cornborough Cottage after a wondeful week away. 3 familes, 3 generations. The cottage is just beautiful and cosy but there was plenty of space for us all to just mill around. The children especially loved the little space under the spiral staircase that has been made in to a makeshift school. The outside space is just outRead morestanding. We happily spent a couple of days just at the cottage. Adults sitting in the sun, children in the hot tub and garden. We went to Croyde (used a Access for All beach wheelchair), Watermouth Castle (the toboggan is very fun), The BIG Sheep (absolutely fantastic - although not dog friendly, they have kennels in the car park you can padlock your dog in). We went over to The War Horse County Farm and it was fantastic. So knowledgable, really hands on with the animals. The pub is worth booking - a proper old cosy, open fire pub. We went for a meal at The Wreckers Retreat at Hartland Quay which was lovely - what a view. We had a couple of little things which we had to contact the owners for and they were really responsive and helpful. Would LOVE to return. The children are missing the house already. Hide

We very much enjoyed our week long stay in this super house. The kitchen/diner proved to be a really good area for everyone to gather together. Owner was very helpful when contacted.

Lovely spacious house in a very peaceful countryside location. The farm track to the property is in very poor condition with lots of deep potholes. Care is needed to not scrape the bottom of your car.

Was a solid 4 out of 5 but could have been a 5 out of 5! This is a great cottage for a large group. Our group was a total of 9 people consisting of 5 adults and 4 children. The cottage could comfortably accommodate all 9 of us with 2 very large bedrooms, for 2 adult couples, in the main house with an additional twin bedroom and additional bunk Read morebedroom for 4 children. For such a large group, the ensuite for both adult bedrooms and shared bathroom for the children was ideal! The separate Annex was perfect for an additional adult, but the twin beds could comfortably accommodate 2 adults or children. The house itself is very large with very spacious kitchen. The separate lounge and games room allowed for the children to have their own space. Outside the jacuzzi is outstanding and a lovely touch to the property it was used most days. The outside dinning space and BBQ were perfect for large groups. In addition, the vast outside space was ideal for exploring and for the children to play. The location of the property is excellent. A 5-minute walk to the local pub (which did excellent food and drink) and a 30-minute walk into the centre of Westward Ho! The beaches are outstanding and perfect for relaxing, building sandcastles and body boarding. The beach is so vast that it does not feel overcrowded. With the RNLI providing overwatch of a designated swimming and body board area, you have peace of mind that children can have fun in safety. Further afield, there are some great villages only a 1015-minute drive away. So why only 4 stars? There were a few minor issues that let the property (and experience) down. For example, on arrival the BBQ had not been cleaned and still had food on from the previous occupant. The jacuzzi had not been cleaned and treated on the swap over day and needed to be done the day after we arrived. A headboard on one of the kids beds had broken. Curtain rails were not fully secured in several of the rooms. The kitchen equipment needs to be fully reviewed. For a large house, that can accommodate 10, there is not sufficient equipment to satisfy all ten (there are not 10 of the same glass, or plate). There are no pint glasses. The coffee machine was broken. Some of pans in the cupboard are not compatible with the induction hob. Also, a tea tray to carry cups would be a welcome addition. Although, if the above was to be addressed, this house would be an easy 5 out of 5 and we would consider staying again at the property in the future. Hide
