Tucked at the end of a private driveway, this four-bedroom detached property also has an adjoining studio (accessed externally) which sleeps two, ideal for less mobile guests or offering privacy for anyone looking for independence. The cottage is set between Abbotsham, Westward Ho! and the sea, conveniently located for North Devon’s premier attractions and places of interest. The coastal village of Westward Ho! is just 1 mile away, with its sandy beach, excellent surfing and water sports, shops, bars and restaurants. Golfers will want to head to the Royal North Devon Golf Club, 2.5 miles away, while little ones will enjoy days out at the Big Sheep or the Milky Way Adventure Park, both within 9 miles. Explore the historic fishing village of Appledore, with winding, narrow streets and colourful houses, or the market town of Barnstaple, where a historic indoor market takes place Tuesdays to Saturdays.

This handsome property boasts many characterful features, including exposed beams, stonework and original wooden floors. Please note that it consists of the main farmhouse plus an adjoining studio annexe. After driving up the private lane, taking time to appreciate the view of the pretty house, head into the spacious entrance hall, from which you can access the lounge via a couple of steps up. Here you’ll find a wood burner, a Smart TV, a piano and comfortable sofas in which to relax. The cushioned seat in the bay window is a lovely spot from which to admire the garden or settle with a book or magazine. A separate family room (another step) provides an alternative space to unwind, with an ornamental inglenook fireplace and French doors to the garden. Younger members of the group will enjoy the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation and table football set up here. The kitchen/diner includes everything the chef will need, including an electric range oven and a microwave, while the utility room has laundry facilities. A long dining table runs the length of the room, illuminated by a run of adjacent windows and a skylight above – perfect for celebratory meals of all kinds. A welcome breakfast bar offers additional room to perch for a morning coffee or a snack. A lovely feature of the kitchen is the old bread oven set into the wall. The four beautiful bedrooms on the first floor of the main house are all south-facing and benefit from soft, morning sunlight. The zip-and-link super-king-size (can be made into a twin on request) and king-size rooms benefit from en-suite shower rooms, while the bun and twin bedrooms share a lovely family bathroom. In the adjoining studio cottage, which is set all on one level, there’s a twin bedroom/lounge with a vaulted ceiling, and kitchenette from which you’ll have delightful views of the gardens, plus a spacious, en-suite wet room.

Dine alfresco on the large, suntrap patio, where garden furniture and a BBQ are provided. The house is set within 2.5 acres of grounds, including a private enclosed lawn and a woodland garden with a shallow stream (please supervise young children and pets), and access to woodland. Another benefit of this superb property is a private hot tub, perfect for long soaks after days out and about. There is private parking for four/five cars.
