A gorgeous Georgian retreat in the tranquil village of Barrington, this cottage is ideal for spending special time away in Somerset. Sleeping five guests and welcoming pups, it’s perfect for families and couples eager to explore the local area, including the Blackdown Hills, 9.5 miles away. Stroll just 0.5 miles from your doorstep to the National Trust’s beautiful Barrington Court, with its magnificent gardens, which were influenced by Gertrude Jekyll. Pause at the village pub, which welcomes four-pawed companions, for a bite to eat on the way home. Plan a day out discovering the picturesque Dorset National Landscape, which begins 8.5 miles away, or the Quantock Hills, 17 miles from the cottage. Venture 14.5 miles into Taunton to potter in the shops, buy Somerset produce and wander through the beautiful Vivary Park.

Enter the stone and brick cottage via the hall, where you can shed your shoes and begin to relax. Turn right into the enticing kitchen/diner, with its beamed ceiling, natural wood and stylish cabinets. Unpack your groceries and put the kettle on for a cup of tea and a slice of freshly baked Somerset apple cake. Enjoy your snack at the wooden dining table. Find all the equipment and accessories you need in here, too, to help you prepare hearty meals for your friends or family. Afterwards, gather in the inviting lounge to settle on the plush sofas in front of a good film on the Smart TV and light a roaring fire in the wood burner. When you feel ready to lay your head, climb the steep, cottage-style stairs carefully up to the first floor. Here you will find your inviting king-size, double and single bedrooms, as well as the family bathroom, with both a bath and a shower. A bonus to this welcoming cottage is its external snug, where you can savour some quiet time to yourself with your holiday novel.

Take the children or pets out into the enclosed courtyard garden to enjoy some fresh air. Dine out here on the patio on fine days and admire the pretty English cottage borders. There is parking for one small or medium-sized car at this property. Please take care when arriving and leaving, as the space is tight.
