What a thoroughly lovely place to stay! The cottage has been very thoughtfully renovated by the owners and its clear how much love and attention has gone into the project. Everything felt high-quality, well-finished, solid and cosy. It really was a home-from-home! Often when staying in self-catering accommodation you find yourself doing without Read morecertain home-comforts during your stay, but thats not the case at Archway Cottage - the hosts really have thought of everything. New, modern appliances throughout, a twin-drawer air-fryer in the kitchen, a wood-burning stove in the lounge (including a basket of logs), torches/nightlights in each room, blankets by the sofa (not that we were ever cold), plenty of crockery and cutlery so youre not having to wash-up every five minutes, a washing machine and airer tucked away in a utility room upstairs, so much kitchen equipment that even the most ambitious chef/baker wont be hampered and even a stock of basic supplies like kitchen foil, salt, pepper, spices and oil alongside the usual tea, coffee and sugar. We were welcomed with a beautiful basket of goodies, including biscuits, home-made jam and a bottle of wine, plus a bottle of fresh, local milk in the fridge. There was even a posy of fresh flowers in each room, which I guess were probably from the beautifully-maintained garden (make sure you spend some time on the patio at the bottom of the garden to enjoy the sound of the river and the beautiful scents from the herbs and flowers in the garden). We were fortunate to be the first guests to stay in Archway Cottage (May 2025) and we were able to thoroughly relax knowing that everything we needed was nearby and catered for. We cant wait to go back again! Hide
