This characterful two-bedroom cottage is a convenient spot in the heart of York, 150 metres from the River Ouse and 0.5 miles from the city walls. Stroll the cobbled lanes of The Shambles (1 mile), explore Viking heritage at the Jorvik Viking Centre (3 miles), or take in the awe-inspiring York Minster before drifting along the river on a relaxing boat tour. You’ll be spoilt for choice with hundreds of cafes, restaurants and bars within 0.5 miles. Art lovers will enjoy the National Railway Museum and York Art Gallery (both 1.5 miles). If you fancy a countryside jaunt, Castle Howard’s grand house and gardens (15.5 miles) make for a stunning day trip. Keen to pull on your hiking boots? The landscapes of the Howardian Hills (13 miles), North York Moors (24 miles), and Yorkshire Dales (28 miles) are ripe for adventure, with trails and views galore.

On arrival, step through the front door and take a moment to admire the charming original flooring before heading into the bright and comfy lounge/diner which stretches all the way to the back. Here you’ll find soft seating and a TV with a Fire Stick for all your favourite shows. Through what was once a dividing wall is a dining area with a table for sharing meals and French doors leading outside, plus a wood burner (aesthetic only) to enjoy the space. Beyond this is a sleek kitchen with glossy units and everything you need for meal prep, including a coffee machine for your morning brew. Upstairs are two stylish bedrooms: one double and one twin room, along with a sleek family bathroom featuring a free-standing shower, separate bath and WC.

Outside, a lovely seated courtyard awaits – wonderful for al fresco breakfasts or evening wind-downs. There are also handy dry outbuildings that can store up to four bikes. A washing machine is available on request, and there’s a parking permit provided for one car.
