The property lies just half a mile from the famous outdoor Beamish Museum – known as the Living Museum of the North, it recreates life in the north-east of England across the 19th and early 20th centuries. There’s a wide choice of pubs and restaurants in the local area, with the bustling market town of Chester-le-Street to the east (4 miles). The historic city of Durham is to the south (8.5 miles), home to a medieval castle and cathedral as well as a wealth of independent shops and great places to eat and drink. The world’s oldest existing steam railway sets out from nearby Tanfield (4.5 miles).

Entering this stunning holiday home, the grand hallway leads you through to a characterful lounge with a big bay window, plush seating, a Smart TV and a welcoming open fire – the perfect ingredients for relaxation and cosy movie nights. Exploring further, you will find a handsomely styled dining room which leads through to a light-filled and fully equipped kitchen with a useful central breakfast bar. Set under chandeliers, find all you need in this well-appointed space for cooking up memorable holiday feasts. From the kitchen, walk through to the bright and cheery orangery, a fantastic space to sit and unwind, with a Smart TV, sumptuous seating and light streaming in through the windows set in the high ceiling. The ground floor also offers a WC and utility room for added comfort and convenience. Heading upstairs, the elegantly decorated landing has a lovely seating area leading to a family bathroom with a free-standing slipper bath and separate walk-in shower. This floor also features four splendid bedrooms, all of which boast Smart TVs, restful decors and inviting beds – choose from a master super-king-size with an en-suite bathroom and access to a private proof terrace, a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a double, and a cosy twin bedroom.

Stepping outside, a large patio has steps leading down to a delightful, decked terrace and a pretty lawn. The garden wraps around to the side and front of the property and makes an ideal spot for dining alfresco on a sunny afternoon. Ample off-street parking is available for four cars.

A beautiful house in a lovely location. You probably need a car but good local bus service. Hosts very accommodating and helpful, felt we could have asked anything. Really well equipped house, a home from home. We loved seeing the horses in the field behind garden. We had a brilliant stay and would love to re- visit.
