This welcoming bungalow makes a brilliant base for four guests and their four-legged friends, with easy access to the stunning valley and lakeside walks. Nearby, Penrith (3 miles) is a vibrant historic market town at the heart of Cumbria, known for its cobbled lanes, independent shops, boutique cafes and impressive 14th-century castle ruins (a must-visit for history buffs). For lakeside adventures, head 8 miles to Pooley Bridge, a charming village on the River Eamont at the head of Ullswater. It’s a scenic spot lined with elegant greystone houses and teashops, and the starting point for a popular boat trip: sail to Howtown, hike to Glenridding, and return by boat – one of Wordsworth’s favourite routes. You’ll also be well placed for day trips to Carlisle and Keswick (both 17.5 miles).

Upon arrival, step through the conservatory porch into the entrance hall, where the cosy lounge awaits to your right, complete with a Smart TV in one corner and an electric wood burner to keep you all warm. Thoughtful decor touches like contemporary cushions bring a modern feel to the space. The roomy kitchen/diner has a smart monochrome colour scheme and a central dining table – perfect for cooking and sharing meals together. Down the hallway, you’ll find a comfortable king-size bedroom and a cheerful twin room, both with cohesive colour schemes for a restful look and feel. You’ll also have a bathroom with a shower over the bath, and a separate WC.

Outside, a covered walkway leads to a handy outhouse for storing bikes. An enclosed garden with patio furniture invites al fresco dining with countryside views, and there's off-road parking for two cars.

What a lovely lodge. It was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The sheep in the field were an added bonus! Would definitely stay again.

We decided to book a short break over the New Year to get away from any fireworks, as our dog gets very stressed. Our normal location for a holiday in the lakes would be Keswick but, as wed left things until the last moment, we were unable to find anything available. After a few searches, we came across Greystone Lodge and, based on other reviews, Read moredecided to book up, and were so glad we did. The property is on the edge of Newton Reigny and, although amenities within the village are limited, Penrith is just a short drive away. The accessible parts of the house are all on one level (there does appear to be an upstairs, but access is restricted) and the whole property was spotless, with all of the amenities you could require. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend Greystone Lodge and hope to return in the future. The only downside to the village that I would make people aware of, and is not related to the property itself, is that the local pub is not dog friendly, which is surprising. Hide

We have stayed in Greystone Lodge for a few weeks whilst we were between houses, and we could not have chosen a better cottage for us and our two dogs. Greystone is clean, comfortable and well maintained. The owners have thought of everything you could need for a holiday, and its very well equipped. The WiFi is great if you do need to work fromRead more home, and it has a SmartTV with every app possible. The location is perfect! Youre only 5 minutes from Penrith for shops and supermarkets, 15-20 minutes from Keswick, and only a few miles from the M6 for heading to Scotland. Newton Reigny is a really lovely village, and the surroundings of the Lodge are incredibly peaceful. We would definitely come back to Greystone Lodge. Hide

We had a lovely stay at the bungalow and our dogs were safe in the area around the house mainly concrete. The area was very peaceful and it was great to see the sheep in the field that we looked out onto. We loved the small conservatory and sat there most mornings with our coffee and in the evening until it got dark. The bungalow was very clean andRead more comfortable and one of the best properties we have stayed at. Thankyou. Hide

Lovely cottage, exceptionally clean and comfortable. We chose it as thought it would be easily accessible to north lakes and it was perfect for all of our day trips. Would certainly book this property again.

This place is beautiful, extremely clean with a well stocked kitchen (even milk on arrival). The location is within a few miles of Penrith. We drove to Keswick for the Saturday market within 30 mins. Looking forward to re booking for another quiet, peaceful break.
