This delightful retreat is part of a group of three huts situated in a secluded spot in the foothills of the Black Mountains. Lying along the north-eastern corner of the Brecon Beacons, the bright and cheerful hideaway is a perfect base for walkers, climbers, nature lovers and cyclists exploring the region’s stunning landscapes. The medieval Castell Bronllys is just 150 metres away, with the cheerful village of Bronllys itself within half a mile, with a friendly pub, cafe and shop. The hut lies midway between the historic market town of Brecon (8 miles) and Hay-on-Wye (7.5 miles). Brecon sits along the River Usk and is home to a magnificent cathedral, while Hay-on-Wye is famous for its many second-hand bookshops and festivals. Other local attractions include Llangorse Lake, The Begwyns, Tretower Castle and the nature reserves at Pwll y Wrach and Brechfa Pool, all within 10 miles.

Four steps lead up and into this fresh, bright and airy shepherd’s hut, which has been beautifully furnished and characterfully decorated throughout. Immediately in front of you, there’s a table and chairs, perfect for romantic meals, which you can rustle up in the fully equipped kitchen area to the side. At the heart of the hut is a roaring traditional wood burner, and the property has the added benefit of underfloor heating. Over to the other side of this cosy retreat, you will find a stylish king-size bed which can be accessed from both sides. The bedroom area also has a Smart TV and bi-fold windows offering idyllic views. The accommodation is rounded off with a refreshing shower room with a twin shower.

Heading back outside, the steps lead down to a quiet and screened-off garden area with a private patio and plenty of outdoor furniture, including a fire pit for a BBQ on a sunny afternoon. There’s also a bubbling hot tub for you to luxuriate in after a great day’s exploring. Off-road parking is available for two cars.

We had the most perfect stay in the Butterfly Hut, everything you could need was included, bbq tools, etc. even a whisky should you need one. We arrived quite late so it was nice to have the hamper, a well needed bacon sandwich cooked outside went down a treat. The hot tub was ready on our arrival so we were in it straight away. We went out every dRead moreay as plenty to see and do around the area and returned for a soak, quite simply it was a perfect weekend. This is the 3rd hut we've now stayed in and it was much more spacious than the others, nice to have a full sized bed where I didn't have to climb over my partner in the night for a toilet visit, oh and the double shower was amazing!
